Damn you target. I just got an email saying that my name, address, email, and phone number may have gotten stolen during the compromise because I had made a stupid registry there for my wedding. They gave me the link for the free credit monitoring service. @amcourt09 did you sign up for it? Did anyone else get the email?

Yep and I got this link earlier in the week sent to me so I signed up but didnt get my confirmation e-mail yet

DH did. I think its suspicious. Not sure why they would have DHs info. We always use my old email account for all that stuff. The link might want you to fill in your info for credit monitoring but its actually a hacker.

Thats what I was thinking. If you click on the link it says right on the website not to click a link from any email and enter in your personal information. People would call daily when I worked at the bank because they received phishing emails that looked just like it was from our company.

Sounds like they did send an email, but people aren't believing it. Plus it would be easy for a scam artist to copy it.

Yea I had my cw check to see if it's a scam. The ceo if target was on the news that night saying is not.

I didn't click on the email link. After what happened, I'm a little skeptical of them. I'd rather pay for a year of credit monitoring myself than trust them again. But..that's just me.

Also, my bank is watching my account like crazy so I'm not overly worried right now. Andplusalso, that credit monitoring is not in any way, shape, or form free for me. I paid for it when some stranger cleaned out my checking and caused us to miss our family Christmas party because we were frantically trying to make sure all of our other money was safe.

I got the email too, but I already pay for a credit monitoring system. I dont shop there normally since there isnt one near me, but we did register there for our wedding. 6 years ago! So I think Im in the clear.
