Hi there! It's awhile since I've been around, but I didn't want to ask this on FB for the recipient to see.
Our friends are new parents to a 1 week old baby girl. Any suggestions on a gift we can take over when we visit them. They've had family staying with them since the birth, so I know they've been well-fed! I was thinking along the lines of a fun, unique gift or something for the parents. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: gift for new parents
A magic wand that makes your baby sleep through the night.
A date night package (including babysitting services if needed!)
Wine/Beer/Whatever of the month club
Gift card to a photographer
Zoo or other membership
When my oldest daughter was born a coworker of mine set us up with a photographer friend of hers. The photographer came to our house and took pics of dd and we just paid for the prints/cd. My coworker paid the sitting fee.
It was such a nice, unexpected gift. We didn't have any plans to get newborn pictures taken, but now I'm so glad I have them.
Truth be told...I wanted time to shower :-P
I was going to suggest food, or a house keeping or laundry service. My house was a mess after having a baby and I felt like I should clean while baby was napping, when in reality I should have been sleeping.
If the baby's name was not known before her birth perhaps something personalized? I bought S a stool with his name in wooden letters like this one, but I found someone on Etsy (I think) who made it from solid wood (not particle board.) He was from Ohio. It was about $50, so not crazy $$. I can dig out the link if you need me to. (This would also work if you knew the baby's name ahead of time...just thinking that if it was a surprise, they won't have very many personalized things.)
Also for a gift that's more baby related. you could do a personalized print with the baby's name/birtdate/other fun facts on it. A stool like Dena mentioned, or a rocking chair. For a gift that the baby could use as she gets older, you could do personalized jewelry/memory box or maybe even a piece of jewelry/something with her birthstone.
