The more drunk, the more attracted sperm is to the egg and the better the egg will stick. Same goes for smoking crack. Scientific fact. Drink and smoke more. Edit: Don't forget to stop IMMEDIATELY once you see two pink lines. It's only okay if you hope you're KTFU but don't know for sure.

You don't need to. You're already pregnant.  Unless you want to have twins.

  • Methadone will ensure you'll carry to full term. Baby will end up in the NICU on Morphine for withdrawals for a little while, but you did it for his/her well being so that makes you an amazing mommy.

I did call this one.  It's amazing what happens when you know what you're doing and your bodies aren't broken.

Anyone else want my assistance?  3T girls need not apply. I can't fix our shit.

Bahahaha.... Darn, @Aimothy!!! I was really hoping you could fix me, too!

Congrats Cloudy!!! All the best for a H&H 9 months!

Mh obviously doesn't understand science and development of a fetus so don't worry about her.

    So happy for you cloudy.

Look, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, and I don't want to make someone feel worse than she probably already feels. However, it's concerning to me that you all seem to think getting drunk during the TWW is such a great idea. A few glasses of wine and I wouldn't be concerned, but she said she got drunk and she was actively trying this cycle with OPK's and everything.

When I was in nursing school I actually wrote a paper on drinking and smoking in pregnancy, and while most of you are right in that she doesn't yet share a bloodstream with the fetus this early the literature out there at that time basically supported the notion that one should become somewhat of a teetotaler when TTC. I specifically said she didn't get her baby drunk, but that she was creating a less than optimal environment for development. There's also evidence of higher rates of miscarriage when drinking in early pregnancy.

There are plenty of people out there who boozed it up not knowing they were pregnant and ended up with children who are fine. I just don't understand why someone would purposely risk it. She's been trying just a few months. What's done is done and I wish her all the best, I just don't think people should be coming here for advice regarding getting "trashed" (her word, not mine) in early pregnancy and having non-medical professionals tell her that it's a-okay. I believe the recommendation is still not to drink at all, if possible, while TTC.... And certainly not to get drunk. I could be old school though.

P.S. I bet you money that she'll downplay the "trashed" part when she speaks to her MD and then run back here to say her doc said it was completely fine. I see it allll the time.

  • Old school. Yeah, that's it.

  • Well I wanted to let you know, I'm not pregnant anymore. :( I started spotting yesterday and went to the dr today and I'm not going to have a baby. Looks like MH1006 was right. I hate myself right now.

  • @Cloudymeatballs - please please stop blaming yourself. You did nothing wrong! My heart breaks for you and I am so so sorry for your loss. I know women who drank up until they found out they were pregnant and had a healthy baby and I know a woman who didn't drink at all and miscarried later on. This is not because of your weekend out, you didn't know and you couldn't have changed anything. Please do not hate yourself. Once again, I am so very sorry for your loss...

All of this. Cloudy, this happens and do not beat yourself up over it just because some troll on this board posted some ignorant nonsense and caused you unecessary stress. I know it's hard and I'm really sorry for your loss, but this isn't your fault. :(
  • Thanks girls. I know this happens to a lot of people. Maybe I shouldn't have taken that EPT test early. I would not have known. :(

  • Well, taking the test early is a matter of preference, and I realize that waiting to know is hard too, but I almost feel like it's better to wait partly for that reason. Again, that's just my preference. I sometimes wonder if some of the months that my H & I were trying maybe we were successful and just didn't know....a few of the months we were trying, I was a day late - I assumed it was late just because of stress, but I also felt like AF was coming, so I gave it an extra day and blamo AF arrived and those months when it happened, it was REALLY heavy. So who knows what could have been.

One of my very good friends it took her 4 losses before finally having success and my SIL has suffered from 4 losses now....so this is a lot more common than many people (except for the ones in this forum) think.

The good news for you though - at least you know that you can get pg. I know the loss is hard, but I'm sure it will happen for you again before you know it. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss :/

  • I'm sorry :(

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • I am sorry cloudy. You have NO idea why caused this so please try not to beat yourself up. In all likelihood that one night is not the reason for what is happening. It is hard enough to lose a baby blaming yourself won't help.
