Not a huge YA fan...should I try Divergent?
So I'm not a huge fan of YA. I've tried, and it just doesn't do it for me like it does for others. My questions is simply whether or not I should even attempt Divergent. The reviews are so unbelievable, I feel almost silly for not giving it a chance. I just finished The Goldfinch (which took me a month to plow through), and found it slightly depressing up until the very, very end. Basically, I'm looking for something a bit lighter. So any thoughts? Can a non-YA lover get into Divergent??
Re: Not a huge YA fan...should I try Divergent?
There's no love triangle which can be typical of YA and it's not particularly young feeling, but everyone has different tastes.
What have you got to lose in trying it? If you don't like it, put it down. This is one where you'll know within a few chapters whether or not it's for you.
my read shelf:
For light books are you into any romances? I usually can do a fluffy romance to follow a long chewy read. Something like Nora Roberts inn Boonsboro series, Sultry with a twist or maybe a little less sexy with The Apple Orchard by Susan Wiggs, Susannah Kearsley (longer and a little more intense than previous books)
If you're looking for people to tell you it's good, you'll find that here. But yeah, you're going to have to read it to decide for yourself.
