Re: NBR: Kids Poll

  • We have one daughter, Mary, who just turned 1 at the beginning of the month. I would like another one in a year or two. Before we had Mary I thought I would love a big family but now I think two kids is perfect for us.

  • 1 human, 1 fur. 6 months and 2 years.
I would like one more of each (human and fur that is, gender doesn't matter).
I have always wanted two of each.

My kid is still in his PJs. They are adorable superman ones.
  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) 2-Alleigh & James 3months tomorrow

How many do you want to have? 3

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? We thought it would take a lot longer to decide if we wanted to try again but with the kids only being 3 months old I am pretty sure we are set on trying again for another one.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) I have two boys (10 year old twins) William (Will) and Grant

How many do you want to have? I go back and forth between 2 and 3 but since my husband is pretty adamant we're done, I guess we're sticking with 2.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Not really.  I always thought I'd probably have 2 or 3.  I don't like the idea of just having one.  There isn't anything wrong with it but having grown up with siblings I can't imagine growing up without them.  At this point I can't imagine having another baby.  It's been so long since my kids were babies I can't imagine starting over.  I still have time I guess, I'm 34.  Sometimes I think I'm just stuck on having three because my mom had three.  My sister and I are twins and have a younger brother.  My husband is terrified we will have multiples again.  I'll just have to get on my sister to start having babies.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) Audrey is 19 months

How many do you want to have? If I had one, I always wanted two (didn't want to have an only child) but I still not in any mental shape to be thinking of a second.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?  I never wanted more than two.  I often think I'm not fit to be a mother when I see others with multiple going about their day like it's no big deal.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) 1 - Liam Atticus, 14 months

How many do you want to have? If money were no object, I'd have 5. But since it is, probably 3.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? I always thought I wanted three, but after Liam I got hooked on how delicious babies are and realized that I would have as many as I could, if I could.

  • I have one child.
    A daughter.
    She's 10.
I'm not having anymore because I don't want anymore, I'm unmarried, and my uterus is a dead zone. Also I hated pregnancy and have no wish to repeat it.
I never thought I'd have any children. I figured I'd be a spinster aunt but then I had a kid before most of my friends did.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like)  Tatum is almost 2 1/2

How many do you want to have? 2

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? I always wanted 3, but that seems like it would be really hard now.  Plus DH is adamant that we can only afford 2 (and I'm pretty sure he's right).

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?  I always pictured myself as a mom of boys, but now that I have a little girl, I would prefer to have another girl.  And not just because I already have lots of girl stuff (though that is handy), I just really love having a little girl so much that I can't imagine having a boy.  Dh feels the same way.
  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like)  No bio-children.  Two step-children

How many do you want to have?  Zero.  Step-kids cured any baby fever I ever had.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?  We are sooooo close to being empty nesters, I can't imagine starting from ground zero again.

How many do you want to have? 1

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?  Yes and no.  It's been hard on J and I and our marriage.  We will make it through, but it wasn't and isn't easy.  I adore my child more than anything else, but he's a lot of hard ( but rewarding) work and I don't think J and I are cut out for another round.  We weren't sure until he was here, but J is 100% no and I'm 95%.  We also have strong personal financial goals for Wes and our retirements/lifestyle and at this point, the costs on a second would be extremely prohibitive.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? My kid won't stop sticking his finger up his nose.  Any tricks to making his stop?

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Yes, I wanted to have two but there is just no way.  It wouldn't be fair to me, DD or DH.  Maybe I suck at parenting or something but the thought of having another kid makes me break out in a cold sweat.

  • I have one daughter...  she is getting dangerously close to 6 and a half.  Her name is Eden.

I would love to have another.  But the clock is ticking on that.  I am getting dangerously close to 38 and a half.

I never really planned on an only child....  (I am one!  And am fine with that... but my daughter is way more social and would love to have a sibling.)

Hmmm... Kid random?   Well, I want to be more like my daughter when I grow up.  She is fun, happy, loves getting out there and meeting people, is a whiz with foreign languages, and wears nerdy fake glasses many days just for kicks.    Oh...  she was also a wicked Marie Antoinette for Halloween as some of you might remember.  I never would have had the guts to wear something like that!   She also has pulled off two very successful international charity initiatives.     Her future plans?  To be a full time surgeon and a part time rock star.

    - Jack is 4 years, Brynne is 6 months

How many do you want to have?
    - I would like 1 more. My husband would like 2 more.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?
    - Yes. I used to only want 2. And then Jack was the most high maintenance infant his first year that I thought I was done forever. But I have definitely come around - each stage has had its challenges but I think I'm becoming better at handling them. The wine and chocolate help ;)

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?
I worried so much about how Jack would react with having a sibling but he has adjusted way too easily. He absolutely adores her. I realize we are very lucky.

I desperately wanted to name my daughter Eden, but DH shot me down.  I adore that name.  If we ever have another girl, I'm going to campaign for that name again.  Maybe it was from you that I got the idea in the first place . . .

How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like)  1.35; Em is 16 months; the .35 refers to the as-yet-still-baking Baby.

How many do you want to have?  2. THAT'S IT. NO MORE.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?  Nope. If anything, it has confirmed my desire to max out at 2.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? My kid is a noodle-vore and a carnivore.

How many do you want to have? Ideally I would like 2. We have 3 embryos left though and plan to use them all so we could end up with 3-4 total.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Yes, I used to want more but right now if I had the choice I would say no more :) I am just finally starting to come around to the idea of having more

  • We don't have any, I'd like one.

Just a kids related random thought, but I've been asked a couple of times recently if I have kids, and I'm not sure if I'm just getting old or what, but women have started replying with "good for you". I have to admit, I'm starting to find it almost as annoying as "why not". Why do you have an opinion? Also, chances are good that when we do try, my childlessness will not be by choice and I'm prematurely insecure about people thinking I don't want children just because I don't have them. I'm feeling a little nutty about it :/

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like)  One.  Andrew will be 2 next month

How many do you want to have?  Two

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?  No.  I always wanted an even number, 2 or 4.  DH wanted 2 or 3, but I was dead set on an even number.  Financially, 4 would be pretty much impossible for us, so we decided on 2 before we even got married.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?  DS was a suuuuper bald baby.. he had so little hair and it finally started growing decently when he was a little over a year.  So I couldn't stand the thought of cutting it.  It's a little on the longish side, but nothing crazy.  We were out to dinner last night and some woman thought he was a girl (despite the fairly boyish blue robot t-shirt that he was wearing).  Guess we're cutting it this weekend.  I know it needs to be cut, but it still makes me irrationally sad.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) 2 - Ethan is 13 and Alexa is almost 11.

How many do you want to have? We are so done!

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? We had originally wanted 3 but after DD was born my DH went "so we have one of each we're good right?"  We also had a lot of things going on at the time when we would have tried for a third and by the time everything was done I didn't want a third that much younger than the other two so we called it quits.  I went through a period of really regretting not having the third but as they enter the teens I am very grateful that we stopped at 2.  If I can just make it through the next few years alive I'm good, lol!

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? I've got a sick DD at home today and a DS that is going to have to be disciplined after school. I'm still working on his punishment. Yea for the teen years!

That makes me feel a lot better.  I really don't think it looks girly at all, this is the first time that's ever happened.  But now it's getting to the point where it gets tangled pretty easily, so we should probably cut it.  I just don't want to!
