What I'm About To Read After I Pick Up My Library Hold

This book flew totally under my radar until I stumbled across it on Goodreads and noticed it had an absurdly high rating.

So did I! I was like how have I been here this long and haven't seen this acronym? I'll be checking this book out though.

I'm anxious to hear what you think! This was on the January list our library system puts out for librarian recommendations and I too was surprised to see the outstanding reviews on GR despite never hearing of it before. I've got a request in for it right now so I should be reading it in the next couple of weeks. Sounds really interesting!

I picked it up yesterday and started reading after dinner. By bedtime I was already on chapter 21, which is obviously a good sign. But this book is VERY dark. Way darker than the Hunger Games (which it's being compared to on the cover). Unlike HG, there's no comic relief in the form of Effie/Haymitch or sweetness in the form of Peeta, Rue, etc. I'm about to the halfway point, and so far there's a lot of death, violence, and vengeance. I'm not saying I don't recommend it, because it's very well done. But I think you'll have to be in the right mood to appreciate this one.
