How did I not know this was still going on? I thought the series ended at 4, now I see book 6 is due out this year?! Has anyone read these? I thought book 4 was unnecessary, and the series should have been a trilogy...

I thought the same thing! I haven't read past book 4.

I'm caught up. Book 4 was lame, book 5 was a little better. I'm going to read the 6th because I can't stand to leave series unfinished.

It was meant to be a trilogy and she decided to extend it ($$$).

I can't even remember if I read the fifth one because I'm so annoyed with the series.  FTR, the Infernal Devices series was better.

I considered reading these but my ya librarian friend said she just couldn't get into them and we usually have the same taste in books.

This should have stayed a trilogy.  I fully expect the next trilogy to be based on Magnus.

I'm planning on reading #6, but I have to reread 4 and 5 because (bad sign) I don't remember most of what happened in them.

I remember liking the 5th better than the 4th.  I'll probably read the next one, because I don't like not finishing a series, either.

OMG this is PERFECT.  I feel like Garth and Wayne pretty much every time either of you recommend something to me.

Book four was PAINFUL.  I will never read anything by that woman again.  Ugh.  (my apologies to her fans.)

I also don't remember a ton from 4 and 5 but I'll read 6 to finish it out. I can't decide what I really think of the writing/plot because at times I love the ideas but then I get annoyed with how things play out.

Book 4 was TERRIBLE.  Made me so angry.  A year later, I saw the book 5 audiobook at the library.  It was much better than 4 (though she still should have stuck with a trilogy) and I will read book 6 just to finish out the series.  I've been meaning to pick up the Infernal Devices forever.

MI should have been done after 3. I'll still finish though

I still need to pick up the third Infernal Devices book.  I haven't finished the series yet.

I did, it wasn't impressive but I enjoyed it but more like a guilty pleasure enjoyment than serious enjoyment.  

I will say I had only read the first book and wasn't going to continue the series but spoilers in the movie made me want to at least read the second book.

I will read the last Mortal Instruments book because I am interested in the crossover between the two series.
