We took Boomer to the vet this morning and he's been diagnosed with anaplasmosis.
We originally took him because he was having back leg pain, crying when you pet him, when he got up from a nap or after running up the stairs, but only sometimes. It started last night and we were just going to keep an eye on it. He was walking fine so we thought it may have been a bruise (or something) from a puppy play date. Then he let out a good long cry after our walk this morning and it really concerned me.
I didn't ask a lot of questions because bringing him to the vet upsets me so much. He doesn't like to be poked and prodded by us, never mind strangers, so having to test his joints was not a great experience for either of us.
He's on antibiotics and has pain killers for his joints if he needs them. Is this the sort of thing where the antibiotics will cure him or will he continue to have issues? He's otherwise healthy and is on tick prevention, but we live in a particularly bad area for them and he spends time in the woods.
I would appreciate any sort of info. Thanks!
