Shopping frustration

I gained weight due to not being as active as I used to but mostly due to my health. I loved my body even though I was larger then I had ever been and bought clothes I love.

Now with my IBS & Gerds under control, combined with my new job, I lost 40 lbs unintentionally. I'm down 2 pant and top sizes. BUT I've had the hardest time shopping. Especially for jeans. I've never been so miserable trying to find dresses, pants, or shirts. 90% of the time I'm frustrated. I used to love trying on clothes.

Don't get me wrong I love my weight, how I feel, and I look good! But does anyone else have a tough time shopping?

Re: Shopping frustration

  • Have you tried a personal fitting with Vault Denim Rep? They will get you the perfect fitting designer jean and the prices are pretty good.
  • I haven't yet. I'll have to give it a try
  • Where do you live? i can find one for you?
  • There are a ton of reps in that area, would you like me find one for you or would you prefer to buy online?
  • I'd find a tailor to fix the problem..

  • I've used tailors before. Still do if I need to. But if the pants are not cut just so they hit a bad spot and it hurts me. I'm in enough pain daily Id rather not add to it.
  • I do... It really gets frustrating when you find a dress that you really really like only to find out it doesn't fit you.

Im sorry you have frustrations too. But it is nice to know I'm not alone.
  • I HATE shopping.  I despise going to stores.  I'm not even that difficult of a fit.  I order stuff online in a variety of sizes.  I can try everything on at home (with my shoes, other clothes, etc) in better lighting than a fitting room.  Plus, I don't have the stress of seeing other people who are actually enjoying shopping.  BTW, the cuts nowadays are NOT flattering...

  •   X2 here. I'm 6'1" on bare feet. Plus I'm getting "secretary's spread" from having too much butt time in a chair at work.
If it wasn't for a Tall Girl and Long Tall Sally I would be at a loss.
DH once suggested and only once. That I shop at  Tractor Supply Company (TSC) for my size when there for horse supplies. He is wiser now and knows he is lucky to be older.
  • ugh so frustrating, I need a size 2 with a 35" inseam...nowhere near me makes pants that long! all we have for shopping within an hours drive is a TJMaxx, Kohl's and a Gap-outlet (note the outlet doesn't carry long-sizes below a size 6)

I'll be forever stuck in skirts and dresses (which due to my long legs often appear to be shorter than intended)...and hoping i can get free returns so I can order the jeans store to my house and send back shat doesn't fit.
