Just need to vent- long
This is longer than I thought it would be. Fresh baked cookies for all who finish reading. I don't even need responses, just needed to get this out.
Yesterday, I went to flush the toilet and it was barely flushing. H said it happened on Saturday also, he fiddled with it and it worked. I called my brother, a plumber, and he said he would fix it. He came over, tried to jiggle the part and said we needed a new part. He couldn't get it yesterday because it was Sunday and the supply house was closed. We had to fill the tank with water after flushing so there would be water for the next time.
I had a snow day today. After H went to work, I woke up and went to the bathroom. I was still half asleep, lifted the tank lid and dropped the lid into the tank, breaking the part off that needed to be replaced. Water started shooting out like a geyser. It was pretty comical. My dad came down, lifted the tank lid and even more water shot around the bathroom. He turned off the water to the toilet. I didn't even mind mopping up the water because it was so funny. My SIL's grandfather passed away and the funeral was today. My brother obviously couldn't fix the toilet until after he got home. I had no toilet until about 3:00 today.
H went into the kitchen around 8:30 this evening and there is water coming in from the outside in 4 different spots in my kitchen. Water is buckling the tape on the ceiling and there's drips of water all over. I called my dad and his response was, "It's coming in from the snow outside, there's nothing I can do." My ceiling is probably going to collapse and I am just so over living here!
We've been looking for a house for a year, we started at the beginning of February last year. We are both miserable here, today is just the icing on the cake. Moving out and renting is not an option because rent is so expensive here, we wouldn't be able to save to buy a house in the future. I just want a house and not live in a basement anymore and if there's a problem, I can deal with it, not have my father say oh well. I NEED TO MOVE OUT OF THIS BASEMENT!!!!!!!!

Jen, right after I wrote this, I was telling H about the geyser again and I realized how dumb I was for not videoing it. I could have laughed so much harder at this situation with a video.
Ugh, that is annoying! I do get a kick out of the shooting water though. That happened to H and I right after we moved into our house
Oh, and I made it to the end of the post, are my cookies in the mail?
