WIJFR - Alienated (NS)

I finished last night...

And?  It was absolutely worth the (long, drawn out, arduous) wait.  I knew I would love it, and I did. I *adored* it, in fact.  As soon as I finished the last page I wanted to go right back to the beginning and start all over again.

I am ready for book 2 any time now!

Hurry up and read it, friends.  This will be a fun one to talk about!

Re: WIJFR - Alienated (NS)

  • I just downloaded it this morning, and plan to take a long lunch to start it. :)

I requested that my library add it earlier this week, but then got impatient. Hah!
  • I'm over halfway through it, and I can't put it down. DArn work!

    Isn't it fabulous?

I just went to the Vancouver Public Library's page to see if they even have it on order yet.  (Of course not.  Fools!)   I sent them a suggestion.

It really is good! It isn't "same old, same old", which I appreciate.

  • You guys are fast! Thanks so much for reading (and buying and requesting from the library, too!) Did you catch my 50 SOG reference? I couldn't resist slipping that in.

  • @taylormillgirl - I brought in my copy today and book talked it to all my classes. I have quite a few kids who want to read it. I lent my copy to one girl just now, and I'm going to buy another copy to stick in my library so they can borrow it.

I was going to post about that today! I literally (the original meaning of literally) spit out my cornflakes over that one.  So AWESOME.

Thank you! I hope your students like it. If they don't...just keep me ignorant. lol.

That was **hilarious**.  I am not sure what made me smile more...  that or the reference to Cara's mom's Morrissey collection.    Genius.  ;;)

I seriously couldn't love this book more.  I've been thinking about it all day.

I told the library that I think this series will be VERY big and they need to get multiple copies in for all of the branches ASAP.

I hope this becomes a smashing success quickly!

Please, please, please, let me get what I want. That song reminds me of 500 days of Summer. I love that movie. Good times.

  • Well, after I wrote that Morrissey reference, I realized it was to old for Cara's generation, so I had to mention that it was her mom's. Which made me feel OLD. :)

  • Morrissey is forever.

I watched a YouTube vid with my daughter of him singing Jack the Ripper the other night and she was riveted.

She said "If I ever get to meet Morrissey and he shakes my hand I will totally faint!!!"

    That's my girl.

  • I haven't gotten to the 50 SOG reference yet, but I have very much appreciated your use of the word "frick." Big, big fan of that word. :)
  • Finished it last night. Loved it. However, I have a problem. I need to find out what happens, like NOW. I honestly really enjoyed this book. It was an engaging story, and I cared about the characters in it.

  • I am going to start it this weekend! Work has been so crazed I haven't had a second to read!

  • Loved it!

I actually was pleased by where it ended ... as in, I'm looking forward to knowing what happens, but I felt like there was enough resolution for now. Enough, at least, that I am not tempted to egg @taylormillgirl's car or anything. :)

This board rocks!! I've found the best stuff around here. And when it's a Nestie author, well, that's just so amazing to me.

I was totally happy with the ending, I just still want more! I want to know what happens next. I want to know what happens to the characters, and to Earth. All of it.

  • At first, I was worried that I had tied things up too neatly at the end and nobody would feel compelled to read the sequel. But so many people have messaged me, "Oooooh, that ending! What a cliffhanger!" and it makes me scratch my head. I didn't see it as a cliffhanger at all. I hate cliffies. But who knows? Maybe it is one and I just can't see it.

  • I didn't think it was a cliffhanger either.  Everything ended but there's the promise of something completely new.  I can't wait to get there.

  • I'm halfway through this and love it so much!  I hope to finish it by the end of the weekend so I can read the spoiler post.

I just recommended it to my other online book club.  I told my one good friend to go read it now because it is a little bit Delirium, a little bit Ender's Game and a little bit Anna/Lola.
