Re: Book Club Monday

  • Still on Night Shift, but should finish that in the next day or so.  Then I'm going to read either this book about Benjamin Franklin my mom gave me or The Stand...or maybe my Nabokov short stories book, can't remember it's title.

  • I started reading The Bronze Horseman this weekend.  It's really good so far.

I'm listening to Life after Life, man it's weird and hard to follow.  This might be a better book then audio.

  • I've read one chapter of Into the Still Blue (Under the never sky #3)

I think I hit book burn out a bit.  Seriously I can't get into anything until I get done with all the episodes of Vampire Diaries on Netflix.  It's like crack, I can't stop!!

  • I'm doing a re-read listen to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Loving it, of course.

I'm reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. I'm enjoying that it is a quick read, but I'm not sure my heart is in it.

These are #'s 15 and 16 for the year. My goal is 50 and goodreads claims I'm 10 books ahead of schedule. So, hopefully I'll make it. Bedrest helps a lot :)!

  • I am still reading a Defending Jacob and I am not loving it. I think that is why I am still reading it after 3 weeks.

I also finished Can you Keep a Secret? and really enjoyed that. Now I am listening to the Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.

  • Cathyl7910, I really liked The Language of Flowers!! I hope you enjoy it.

@Mana8503 I wasn't sure how you were going to follow Life After Life on audio book! It's pretty confusing, but I did end up liking it.

I'm currently reading The Golden Lily, part of the Vampire Academy spin-off series. It's good! I'm almost done. This is book 7 of 60.

  • I'm currently reading "The Tomb" (book 1 in the Repairman Jack series). A friend gave me the first 3 books of this series for Christmas. I'm about 55% through it, and I'm liking it so far, mostly.

  • I finished "The Complete Guide to Being Evil", which is a delightful book if you enjoy the fantasy genre and/or humor in the style of Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett.

Then I read "The Same Individuals" by Jill Sunter, and it was TERRIBLE! I was expecting to like it; it's about how drug use and rehab affects the lives of these various people and how those people's lives also turn out to be related to each other. But I don't know if it was just the writing style or if the characters' problems were too similar to what I deal with in my job, but I was bored to tears.

I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. I just signed up for this thing called BookBub, which emails you a list of free or discounted ebooks in your favorite genres every day. So I have like 5 new titles in my Kindle - one I paid a dollar for, and the rest were FREE! Definitely recommend this to anyone who owns an e-reader and is looking for new titles!
