Re: 2/10-2/13: Valentine's Day Giveaway (Psst... wine...)

  • My favorite Valentine's memory was last year, when my bf (now fiance) took me to a restaurant we go to pretty often.  But they had a special room, and a special menu, and the whole night I felt so appreciated and loved.  He does really sweet things all the time, but this was so unprompted and so planned, it melted my heart.
  • My worst valentine memory was last year when my fiance got arrested
  • My favorite memory was the first Valentine's day my hubby and I spent together.  I went over to his apartment that evening, not expecting to do much more than hang out and watch a movie.  He greeted me at the door with romantic music playing and a spotless apartment.  In the kitchen, he had bought a fancy tablecloth, learned how to fold fabric napkins and had them arranged in wine glasses.  There was a vase of roses on the table along with a few other treats.  He was finishing up making a tasty dinner for us.  We spent the rest of the evening coloring old movie posters from a coloring book that he had found for me as a gift.  We both enjoy relaxing and unwinding with silly things like that.  It was the perfect night and he definitely won my heart (again and again!)
  • My flava-fav (favorite) Valentine's Day memory is last year, when my fiance's "borrowed" my car for work the night before. Thinking nothing of it, I handed over my keys. The next morning I hopped in my car to go to work and noticed my car is spotlessly CLEAN! He had it professionally detailed and sitting beside me was a dozen red roses and the sweetest card/love letter I've ever read. I was crying. To think, I got him a watch. We are getting married next month!
  • My favorite Valentine's Day memory was when my boyfriend (now husband) decided to surprise me with a romantic night in. He drew me a bath with candles everywhere, told me to relax while he prepared dinner and handed my a glass of wine to drink while I soak. I was in heaven! We got married 2 years later and every Valentine's Day has been special. :x
  • My favorite Valentine's Day memory was the first one with my then boyfriend, now husband. He is not a planner, unlike me! He's taught me a lot about going with the flow and enjoying every moment. But he made dinner reservations at a fancy place, and it was really nice. I know dinner may be cliche, but it's my favorite memory for the fact that he wanted to please me and stood outside of his comfort zone to make that effort and plan something.
  • My favorite Valentine's Day memory is last year when my fiance (now husband) and I went over to my grandparents' house and they gave us a romantic candle-lit dinner with my little sister as the waitress.
  • My favorite Valentines was when I went to my first Valentines banquet with my now husband. :) It was a romantic night and was excited to get all dressed up!
  • My favorite and not so favorite Valentine's Day was in 2011. It's my not so favorite because I spent it alone. And it's my favorite because it's the last one I spent alone ;;) Me and my soon to be husband have been together since :x
  • My favorite V-day memory was when I walked in the door on our first V-day together to find my favorite flowers (an arrangement he had composed himself), my all time favorite book: The Hobbit special edition that I had been desiring, and a ceramic plate that he had designed and hand painted!
  • My current favorite Valentine's Day memory is actually two instances. One: When I was in high school my dad decided to get me a Valentine present, too. I came home to a bouquet of tulips (my favorite flower) and a movie with the current actor I thought was cute. Two: The first Valentine's Day I spent with my now husband. He came to pick my up from my sorority house with a single rose all dressed up. It was simply just going out for a nice dinner, but he took the extra mile to be romantic in his own way.
  • My favorite memory is last year when my now husband lived 2 hours away. He was coaching a soccer game so I definitely didn't expect to see him until the weekend. I hadn't heard from him and I was going back to my house late. I walked in and there were candles lining the living room and lights were off. I assumed a roommates boyfriend had set something up so I went to ask the girls in their room. Turns out it was my love waiting for me in the kitchen with flowers in hand and I was completely surprised! Wonderful memory with a man I get to spend our first married Valentines with this year!
  • My not-so-favorite memory is spending 4 hours shopping at different places to combine a bunch of small personalized gifts into one amazing one (before internet shopping was a norm), only to be stood up and leaving it on her doorstep as I drove around all night listening to the radio *sad face*
  • My favorite Valentine's Day is definitely my husband and I's first one together back in college. We dressed to the nines, went to a nice dinner and when we came home he had laid out gorgeous flowers, chocolates and sweet gifts for me. It love looking at photos from that night and remembering how special it was. So happy he's my Valentine each year!
  • My favorite Valentine's Day memory is a story about how completely romantic my husband is. We have been together for four years. Our very first Valentine's Day together as a couple was spent with me being alone. My husband was gone for the entire month of February to Africa for a missions trip. He and I had just started dating that December, so our relationship was still pretty new (about a month or so in). He had remembered a conversation we had when we were first getting to know each other about what my favorite flowers were. So, as luck would have it, I received a bouquet of the exact flowers we had talked about months before (Tulips, Lilly's, and Roses). He had made a call to the florist while in Africa to surprise me while he was gone. I was excited that he remembered a simple conversation we had about flowers. Jump ahead four years to today. My husband got called away last night to go help with a crew with all of the ice and snow we have been having here in Georgia. He will not be back for Valentine's day again this year. So, when I got to work this morning, I had a huge bouquet of flowers on my desk…..the exact arrangement I had four years ago. My husband being the romantic he is, remembered that we didn't get to spend our first Valentine's day as a couple together and knew that we wouldn't get to spend our first Valentine's day as a married couple together either. He made it just as special as the first time. It was if I were re-living the same day four years earlier. I have to say, I have a husband who is very romantic and has a great memory (a deadly combination)! :)
  • My favorite Valentine's Day memory was when we decided to go to a local hockey game and then to the Melting Pot.  It was the perfect compliment to both our worlds.  My honey loves hockey and I love fondue!
  • My favorite V-Day memory is my husband and I's first Valentine's Day back when we were only dating.  He tried to make a romantic bubble bath for me in the jetted tub.  He put the bubble bath in, turned on the water and the jets and left the bathroom.  When we went back in the bathroom a few minutes later the bubbles had gotten so out of control they were exploding out of the tub and all over the floor!
  • My favorite memory is the year I took a bus to New York just for the day. It was the first Valentines day with my now husband. He met me at the station with a bouquet of beautiful flowers which I had to carry around on the subway. It was the longest and sweetest Vday I've ever had!
  • Least favorite Valentine's Day memory would have to be the year the guy I was dating was very mum about our Valentine's Day plans. When the day came around I had no plans so I wound up going over to my boyfriend's house like most nights and finding a gorgeous bouquet of flowers complete with a romantic set up in the living room. I was blown away thinking he downplayed the day so he could surprise me! I opened the champagne while I waited for him to come in, expecting new surprises. I couldn't have imagined that my surprise would be finding a card in the flowers addressed to a "Gina"-- my name is Therese. I immediately realized that none of this surprise was for me and tried to bolt, but as I was exiting people came in the door I was trying to leave through. They greeted me warmly and swept me into the living room with them. From there I witnessed my guy propose to Gina in front of their families. Worst part is? I'm in most of the pictures!
  • My now husband and I secretly eloped last valentines day!! It was wonderful for it to just be us. But luckily everyone was mad at us and we had the pleasure of a full blown wedding last September. Hah!
  • Although I do have an amazing husband, with many great valentine memories, I want to talk about another valentine. My favorite valentines memory was when I was in kindergarten. My parents had literally just been divorced and I was having a really rough time. My dad was raising me and I rarely saw my mom. Gifts started being delivered to all the class rooms and I really wasn't expecting anything.. Then they brought in this stuffed Ty Dalmatian with a big glittery balloon and some m&ms. I wanted it to be for me so bad! And it was! That gift from my dad made my life. I slept with that puppy and took him everywhere (including college). I became pregnant with a son of my own and now he has it. Occasionally I borrow it back from my boys. No matter what it looks like or how torn up it gets, it's never going anywhere!
  • My worst Valentine's Day ever was in high school. My boyfriend, of almost a year (which is a big deal in high school), decided to get me NOTHING! I had been dropping hints and telling him things I liked the week before. I had never had a boyfriend on Valentine's Day before so I wanted to make this one count. The day before Valentine's Day I had school, Varsity softball practice (for 2 hours), then club volleyball practice (for 2 hours), and them home to get homework done. I had decided to make my own chocolate hearts for him. I melted white chocolate and mile chocolate, which took longer than I thought, and poured them into heart molds. I was up til midnight making sure the hearts were perfect and my homework was done. I get to school the next day and give him his gift. He thanked me, gave me a kiss and walked to class. I thought maybe my gift was in his car and I would get it later. But later never came. He never got me a gift and when I asked him why I was told, "I didn't get you a gift because you keep telling me to get you one." All I could think was DUH I should get one, I'm your girlfriend! We didn't last much longer. 2 months later we broke up.
  • My favorite memory is our first valentine together. My bf wanted to surprise me for valentine but I did not fly back in time for midnight. I got into town about 6am and drove to his place. When I got there his roommates let me in because he was fast asleep. When he woke up to find me staring at him, he reached in the corner of his bed, pulled out some roses and read me the best sonnet ever.

side note: I later found out he spent most nights while I was gone researching how to write a sonnet.
  • A video that my husband made with music and a bunch of our photos.
  • To make sure my husband felt special on Valentine's Day I bought balloons and put them downstairs for him to see before he left for work that morning.

I worked in the Athletic Department as a coach and had to attend the event on Valentine's Day last year.  Being an employee in Athletics, I was already used to sacrificing so of course I had to attend the event there was no way out of it.  I figured after my event, he would just bring me home and we would spend the night together as newlyweds and cuddle. I was so wrong!

As I was at the Athletic event later that day, my husband had reserved a table at one of my favorite restaurants in the area.  I was so surprised that we were able to spend a romantic dinner for two since it was late in the evening.  I really was thinking we were going to go home after the event.  That by far was the best Valentine's memory to date, not only did we go to one of my favorite restaurants but we still were able to cuddle when we got home.

I look forward to many more with him especially this year since we have relocated to the south! :)
  • One of my favorite Valentine's Day memories was in high school. I never had a Valentine since I was kind of a misfit back then. Of course i was depressed and down on myself all day. But at the end of the day, when I went to get my coat from my locker, I found a single red rose taped to my locker with a note from my "secret admirer". Turned out it was from the school "nerd", but I didn't care. I thanked him for making me feel special :)
  • My not so favorite memory... A guy I was dating brought me flowers and chocolates and then invited me back to his house where he cooked dinner.  We then watched a movie.... follwed by him breaking up with me. On Valentines day.  I asked why he had gone to all the trouble and he told me that he didn't want it to be a bad Valentines day.

My honey always makes sure that my Valentines Days are wonderful. He is so sweet and gets me everything that I love. Mostly I love spending time with the man of my dreams!

  • When I lived in Antigua with my fiancé, he went to a pizzeria and tried to get the Italian chef to make me a heart-shaped pizza.  Some things got lost in translation but I was left with a very endearing pizza with a heart-shaped pepperoni toppings.
  • Last year was the only unique celebration....not just the usual roses and candy. My husband booked a sitter, took me out to dinner, dancing and then a hotel room with a jacuzzi. Kinda felt hookerish lol especially bc he got a nonsmoking room and at the time we both smoked and were running out the side door to smoke thought night lol
  • When my fiance and I are started dating 6 years ago we were poor college students so we celebrated Valentine's Day by ordering our favorite Chinese food, lighting candles and watching a movie in. So every year we celebrate the same way with a quite romantic night in. In makes for a fun relaxing night.
