CODE NAME VERITY - SPOILERS

OMG! This book! My heart! My tears!

And, seriously, SPOILERS.

So, part of the reason I put this book off was because I accidentally read a post that said Verity was Queenie and for some reason I thought that was this huge spoiler and I was all mad about it. I wish someone would have told me that information comes out on, like, page 50 and there is so much more amazing stuff in this book.

I just CAN'T BELIEVE the way everything in part 2 tied up with part 1. How everything in Verity's letter was a manipulation of von Linden. How even the most innocent of comments (Red is Engel's color) ended up meaning something or being a message to Maddie. MY MIND WAS BLOWN. I just kept saying "OH MY GOD" out loud when I was reading...so often that my husband made me tell him the plot of the book so he knew what I was going on about. (He NEVER cares.)

Oh, Julie! Why did you have to die?! I kept hoping it would just be a trick somehow...a fake Julie, a fake gun, SOMETHING. UGH. It gutted me that she was really dead. But I loved that she knew Maddie was there and Maddie was the one who did it and OMG I AM CRYING AGAIN JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

And can I please assume that Jamie and Maddie end up in love and married and together forever? Please?

What a glorious, glorious book. I'm now going to go back and read part 1 again with everything I know about the end.

  • I read that scene 5 or 6 times just trying to find the way that she could have lived.  I read the rest of the book just shell shocked.  It is such an amazing book!
  • Every time I even think the words, "Kiss me, Hardy," I get all choked up.

I did the same thing with the scene when Maddie shoots Julie @Mrs.GinTN. I kept thinking there must be an explanation, there must be a way for this to end happily, but no.

This book seriously had me at the edge of my seat. It was so well written and completely sucked me in. I too cried when Julie died.

What a phenomenal book. The way all the details were woven together. Amazing.

  • This was the type of book that I want to recommend to everyone...but at the same time I know how much it hurt my soul with that ending. I was literally crushed. Sobbing on my bed and unable to sleep.
