Hi there--I normally post on The Bump. I'm trying to beat my winter blues by researching a post-baby#2 getaway for me and the hubs. It must be all-inclusive. Budget isn't unlimited but I'm willing to spend more for top quality.
I would like it to be a 3-4 hour flight from NYC. Looking for names of specific resorts. Ones to avoid as well!
Thanks so much!
Re: All-inclusive resorts
I've been trip planning since I was 7 months pregnant too lol. That was in 2011! It got me through blues as well. Just make sure your financial goals for a trip are used on a trip! It's easy to put a much needed vacation on the back burner. You will have earned it and there will always be those "other things" to pay for.
Right now, take 3000 IUD of vitamin D and get out and walk if possible. It's sunny and 35 here today hooray! Also, I used to take a book to the tanner when I was pregnant and put a chair at the end and just stick my legs in and read lol. It was my lunch break mini vacation.
We liked Sandals Halcyon in St Lucia. The great thing about Sandals in St Lucia is you stay at 1 but get to use the facilities at all three. All are for couples so no kids.
The Grande is a little noisy and a young crowd - equates to Canival Cruise line atmosphere. A lot of honeymooners are there. It has the nicest beach and best bay for sailing.
La Toc is hilly so you need to take a shuttle on the property to get around. Often the ocean there is rough preventing swimming and sailing on the beach. It has a golf course but not all expenses for the course are included so it can get pricey to golf.
Halcyon is an older quieter crowd. It is the least expensive of the three. At Halcyon there are cabanas in the garden area with a view of the beach that are first come firts served vs the ones at the other 2 have to be reserved and cost additional (depending on your room type). We spent 5K for 8 nights including airfare.
Use of hobie cats, kayaks, snorkel trips (via a boat ride) and scub are included in the price. This is the only AI resort we have done.
We did rent a sailboat with captain and his wife who cooked and toured the virgin islands. It was like an AI on the water just for us. Bit that was about 6K for 6 nights not including airfare.
