FFQs

Let's liven things up around here. Post your FFQs. I have one, not that it is necessarily flame worthy but I wanted to ask it.

When, if at all, did your belly button pop? Mine is getting closer each and every day. I'm 22 weeks today.

  • Mine is still very much an innie even after two pregnancies.

  • Mine hasn't completely popped out yet, but like one side of it kind of has and the other hasn't lol.  I don't know if it will come all the way out, but it's pretty close.

  • Mine hasn't popped.  It's just basically flattened out.  Though the top is sticking out just a bit.  Kind of like it's a little over-hang for the rest of it.  It's kind of weird looking.  HA!

  • Ok - Moms - I need sleeping help.  I cannot get comfortable.  Anywhere.  Bed, glider, couch.  She decided to have a dance party all night last night and I feel like a walking zombie today.  My hips hurt and my belly hurts and I am out of ideas.  I'm already using pillows to prop myself up.

  • Neither did mine. It just got flat.

As for sleeping, I'm sorry, I have no words of advice. I was in a lot of pain the end of my pregnancy and couldn't get comfortable. I just slept in the oddest positions possible to feel better.

  • My belly button never popped ....

As for sleeping - I propped myself up and had a pillow between my knees ... That helped as much as it could.  DH and I slept in separate beds the last few weeks of my pregnancy just so I could have more room to try getting comfortable.

  • Can I still sleep on my back if I shove a pillow under one side of me so I'm sort of propped at a slight angle? I roll between my right and left side, and end up on my back in between. I need that back time to stretch out my hips.

@luckyangel07 yes. I was told they aren't really worried about back sleeping until the 3rd trimester, and even then they just want you to start on your back since you can't control where you roll in your sleep

as for the other questions, @uptowngirl2009 my belly button is getting shallow but hasn't popped!

@saisongbird sleeping while pregnant I agree, sucks! I just roll a lot. I'm sorry you had a bad night:(

  • I'm naturally a "fall asleep on my side" sleeper.  I more often than not wake up on my back.  I've always been told my body will wake me up if I need to move.  You're fine on your back.

I think I took mine out around 21-22 weeks. it wasn't bothering me but it was weirding my husband out
  • My belly button popped out at about 25 weeks. It went back to normal/innie pretty much immediately.

At one point towards the end of my pregnancy I fell asleep sitting on my exercise ball laying over the arm of the couch. It was the best sleep I had gotten in months. Other than that I basically only slept when I was exhausted enough to pass out even though I was uncomfortable.

  • @luckyangel07, I've been sleeping on my back a lot so far. I use three pillows to prop myself up as much as possible against the headboard. I try sleeping on my sides but my shoulder hurts so badly that I have I turn over.

@saisongbird, no suggestions for you but I hope you can find a way to get some rest soon!

Yup! You'll get to the point where it will be really uncomfortable to be on your back for any period of time, but you're totally fine.

  • Ok I have one. Not really flame worthy but I feel like a dumb dumb.

So we are going to finally move DD to a bigger car seat and I'm planning on buying a convertible one so that it lasts. Anyway, from what I've seen you can't carry those car seats our of the car, which means I will start having to take DD out of the car seat Everywhere we go.

My question is, since DD doesn't sit yet, how will I be sitting her if we go out to eat or to the store or something?

Now she usually just stays in the car seat when we go out to eat and stuff. Sorry for the dumb question.
  • Lexi was always small so I used the car seat until she reached max height. When I didn't use the car seat, I always took her in the stroller and kept the seat reclined back some. This way she could watch me and look around without being strapped down too tightly to a seat. If you go out shopping, grocery stores and some clothing stores will have the baby seat already attached to the shopping cart. The other option would be to use an infant carrier during those types of outings.

I would recommend the stroller for the restaurants though, and ask for a place where the stroller won't impact walking/doors/aisles.

  • I had already taken my belly ring out before getting pregnant because my acu wanted me to try that to make sure it wasn't interfering or anything (hey it was worth a try and I got pregnant that cycle lol).  I still push it back through occasionally so it won't close up though.

Is there a reason you want to take her out of the infant seat already? I only ask because reasons like the ones you mentioned above are what make them so convenient. Especially if they fall asleep. I personally try to keep them in the infant seat as long as possible.

Right now Zack is 20.5 lbs and over 28 in and I have no intention of moving him until at least after the winter season if possible (our car seat is good until 35 lbs and 32 in) because he stays warm and cozy in there and will still fall asleep in there. When he is awake, I take him out but he is sitting so we don't have the same issues you're concerned about.

Wearing her may be a good option though if you have a carrier and she'll tolerate it.

I took mine out when it started hurting around 16 weeks. I tried a maternity one, but it still hurt. I ended up getting a stretchmark on my piercing hole, and it's a tiny bit stretched, but I was able to put my ring back in, so I'm happy. :)

So why are you trying to move her? Unless she's at one of the limits it sounds like you both still like the infant seat. If you really want to move her to a convertible before she can sit up my only suggestion is wearing her or putting her in a reclining stroller while you're out.

I totally agree. We're switching soon only because he's on the last notch to adjust the height. It's so easy right now just to take him from the house and click the seat into the car and not have to worry about it. If he falls asleep, he almost always stays asleep when we're transitioning from the car into wherever we're going and I hate the idea of having to take him out of his seat and waking him up with the convertible, but we're very soon not going to have the choice.

I didn't even know they made these!  Mine hasn't started bothering me yet and my sister didn't have to take hers out til she was 8 months, so I guess we'll see.  I've had it for 15 years so I'm not really worried about it closing up. I am, however, worried about.... uhm... others? LOL
