Anyone?
Just I'd toss this out there.
Always looking for someone to talk to about my multitude of animals (along with the 2 horses, we've got 2 dogs, 3 cats, and my son has 2 lizards).
Slightly more specific, pregnant horse owners would be helpful. I'm trying to figure out how to NOT go INSANE since my husband wants me to give up the riding for the next 6 months during pregnancy. I'm going INSANE at this idea. Compromising with maybe just riding once or twice a month on "old reliable" (my older Arabian who's my "husband" horse) instead of my "Ferrari" (my younger Paso Fino, who's my speedster).
So...anyone?
Re: Horse owners?
It might be wise to choose the more reliable guy over the spry youngster not to cause trouble
I have no experience being pregnant and riding, but maybe talk to your Dr. and get her to let your husband know that you are cleared to ride (I'm assuming she said it's ok, right?). I also think riding Old Reliable sounds like a pretty good compromise. I understand your husband being worried, but if you show him some data about it being safe maybe he'll come around.
I was too young to remember, but I've been told my aunt used to ride all the time when she was pregnant, and she was a fan of riding bareback. For what it's worth, she has 5 kids and I don't think she had any complications with her pregnancies.
Good luck, and congrats on the little bundle!
Take THAT DH!! HA-HA!!
Honestly, that's about when I'd give it up anyway.
And, I'd told DH about all the information and data out there, and even some of my horse friends who rode well in to their pregnancies, but...he needed to hear it from a professional.
Which just endeared my doc to me more. That he cleared me.
Of course, maybe it had something to do with the slightly crazed look in my eye when I was asking that was almost screaming "You'd better just say YES to whatever insanity is about to come out of my mouth doctorman!!!"
Honestly, as a kid, I was one of those horse crazy nutjobs. Begged for a horse. Asked Santa for one every single year. I got to take lessons until my instructor moved, then those stopped.
Happened to date a guy who grew up with horses, and since he had a good job, he promptly went a little nuts and bought one. Then another. Then one for himself. Then a mare/foal deal. Then "just one more" since it was such a good deal.
Sure, because we needed 6.
When we broke up, I got 2. Which is PERFECT for me.
My "old reliable"
My "Ferrari"
Your two guys (or girls) are beautiful!!!
