Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges or just fun?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • Re-reading Insurgent before I start Allegiant.  It's as good as I remember.

Listening to Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford.  I LOVED his Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, so when I saw this audiobook at the library, I snatched it up.

  • I am hoping to finish Mirror, Mirror today and A Week in Winter.
I keep meaning to check in to WBC, but I never do.
  • Currently reading:

Warren G. Harding and his Administration by Robert K. Murray.  It is a snoozefest.

I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive by Steve Earle.  It is twisted and weird but I am really liking it.

Bloodlines (Bloodlines #1) by Richelle Mead.  I am halfway through.  Not as promising as the VA series but good enough to keep me in the VA world.
    90 books in 2015?

  • I finished up Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (#2).  I loved it but, I didn't give a hoot about the stories within it.  I ended up skipping over all of the excerpts toward the end.

I'm also back to reading The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes (#3).  I'm really enjoying this as well and I'm interested to see where it goes.

  • I'm about halfway through NR's Whiskey Beach, but it's due back at the library today, and somebody's waiting for it, so no renewal.  :(  I'm going to have to find some time today!!!

  • I'm doing a HP re-read and am listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

I reading The Goldfinch. I'm not too far in, but I'm not too excited about it. I might see how much progress I make this weekend. If I don't make much, I might just return it to the library.

These are #19 and 20 for the year. My goal is 50.

  • Still reading John Adams by David McCullough, still thoroughly enjoying it.

Just finished listening to The Crimson Crown yesterday afternoon - another thread to follow about that in a little bit.

Started listening to Code Name Verity this morning, and really enjoying it so far.

Adams is for the Presidential Challenge, but otherwise, no goals or challenges.  These are 12 and 13 for the year.
  • I'm reading Red Rising (#11 for the year) and I'm really enjoying it, but I'm annoyed because even though I'm ~100 pages in I don't feel like I'm really "into" the story yet.  I've only been able to read it in bits and pieces.  I need a chunk of time so I can really get engrossed in the story!  The writing is really great so far.

  • I'm listening to The Next Always by NR.  I finished The Perfect Hope and didn't want to start the other book that I downloaded.

I'm finishing up Dragonfly in Amber right now.  I have a casual reread of HP1 going but it's mostly for when I'm out.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I finished up Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (#2).  I loved it but, I didn't give a hoot about the stories within it.  I ended up skipping over all of the excerpts toward the end.
I did the exact same thing.

  • The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse.  I've loved the other two books of hers that I've read (Labyrinth and Sepulchre), so I'm hoping this one is just as good.  I just started it.

  • Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost.  It's the final Bones and Cats book.

It's #18 out of 75 for the year.

I listened to the audiobook and found that I always mentally checked out during those parts.

  • I'm listening to Dragonfly in Amber.  We got a snow day today, so I finished a ya book - Reunited, which was only okay.  If I can get out of the driveway, I've got a few books waiting for me at the library.  I'm not sure what I will start next.
  • I'm reading Olive Kitteridge, and I like it, but keep taking breaks as my library holds come in so I'll be putting it aside tonight for Undeniably Yours.

I'm listening to Red Lily (In the Garden #3) and I can't wait to see how the main characters come together.  I'm actually looking forward to going back to work on Monday so I can listen to more when I'm driving around to my sites.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

  • I'm reading Alienated and I absolutely LOVE it!  I'm about 65% done and I can't put it down.  If I could avoid doing work today, I'd be reading all day so I can finish it.

    It's #6 of the year.

  • I'm reading The Madman' s Daughter by Megan Shepard. It's a reimagining of H.G. Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau from the perspective of his daughter. The beginning was a bit slow moving with all of this sexual tension in weird and inappropriate places, but I started to get into it as i was reading last night.

I'm listening to Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. It's a little high on the angsty scale for me so far, but that may be just my mood right now.
