Re: List 5 positive things in your life right now.

  • 1) My health. I have been surgery and hospital free for almost 4 years!

    2) My relationship with my husband is in a good spot right now. Recent events have left us closer, and more mindful of each other. I plan to fight to keep this up.

    3) I go on vacation for a week and a half on Saturday!!!

    4) I love the smell of the body wash I used this morning. So I smell good today.

    5) I knocked a bunch of stuff off of my work "reminder" calendar this morning. It feels good to see those mundane and often ignored tasks go away.

    2. We finally decided what we are doing for our anniversary in May, and booked yesterday.

    3. I finally finished the Harry Potter books this month, and over the past few weeks my husband has watched all 8 movies with me.

    4. I work from home. I haven't seen my coworkers since September. We're meeting for dinner on Friday.

    5. I used coconut oil as a deep conditioner on my hair yesterday and it is so soft today!

    2. I also have a happy, healthy toddler.
    3. My lunch is delicious
    4. My afternoon meeting, while likely to be long, will be all technical so I can probably bring other work to do during it, and it should make my afternoon go by faster.
    5. I'm going away with my girlfriends this weekend!

  • 2. We finally decided what we are doing for our anniversary in May, and booked yesterday.

  • 1) My husband and I have both been very healthy recently which is wonderful

    2) My husband has also been super supportive recently in a lot of ways. I've noticed that we both seem to making more an effort to do things for each other instead of just focusing on our own needs.

    3) Although getting my doctorate is tough and stressful, it means that I get to spend most of each day doing what I love!

    4) I have a new candle in my practice room at home and it smells so good. It makes me really excited everytime I go to practice.

    5) I hosted my first ever party this weekend (like genuine had a dozen people, not just a few friends) and it went super well! Everyone seemed to have such a great time but it all stayed under control and was wonderful.
  • I think I really needed this today.  The past few years have been awful in general, but it's important to remember the good.

1: It was a beautiful day yesterday, so my husband and I rode our bikes to the grocery store and then used the grill for dinner when we got home.  We even roasted marshmallows over the grill after dinner was over.  It was nice.
2: He's totally and completely my rock.  Everything that happens, good or bad, we are always there for each other.  And no matter what else happens in our lives, at least we have that.
3: I feel very good in general about how I am eating lately.
4: We are getting a tax refund.  We are using it to tune our piano which has been in several moves and is way out of tune.  We are also using it to fix our chimney so next winter we can use our fireplace.  We are also going to put it towards someday future nursery stuff.  We don't have a kid yet, but I have to believe that we will someday, and working towards it helps me emotionally.
5: We decided to take a belated anniversary trip for cheap.  We are going to Harpers Ferry sometime in the next few weeks and we are going to bring our not-so-warm-weather camping gear and camp out for a few nights.  We wont have to worry about the expense of eating out, because yay, campfire and camp stove!  We are planning on biking along the C&O Canal, hiking on the Appalachian Trail some, and kayaking on the Potomac.  It's great because we'll be starting (belatedly) our fifth year of marriage on a very healthy and frugal note.  Those are also our three favorite outdoor activities to do, so bonus!

  • 1. I'm moving to New York City in 4 weeks

    2. I'm fortunate enough to be able to do what I love for a career

    3. I have a supportive, encouraging wife (for 16 years now)

    4. Mardi Gras is next week

    5. I have a wonderful family who understands that I don't belong here in the South.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

I want to get to Harper's Ferry sometime this year.  We practically live at Gettysburg and we've done Antietam/Sharpsburg so I think that will be next on our list.

  • 1. I know it's still very early, but so far my pregnancy has gone better than I had hoped. My mom had awful pregnancies and I was always so afraid I'd have similar ones, but so far so good. ::knock on wood::

    2. Baby aside, this year is going to be so full of awesome.

    3. DH has been super sweet and thoughtful lately. He even insisted on sleeping in our guest room the last couple of nights because he's been sick. He HATES the guest bed.

    4. I am ::thisclose:: to being done with the hardest class I've ever taken. Just have tonight and next Monday left and I'm done with it. It's an elective so I've been angry all semester that it's this hard and not even required.

    5. We just got our tax return back and were able to pay some things off.

    1. I have a roof over my head at night and a warm comfortable home to return to each day

    2. Relatively speaking, I'm healthy. With my issues, things could be so much worse and I am grateful I am doing as well as I am.

    3. I have a job that pays well enough that we aren't struggling to meet our bills or put food on the table each month

    4. In three weeks or so, I'm going to have a baby and I found a daycare that's not going to cost an arm & a leg

    5. I have wonderful friends & family who are kind, generous, supportive & helpful when we need them. Hand-me-downs are kind of awsome :)

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

    2. I have a wonderful husband who puts up with the batshitcrazy I can dish out sometimes.

    3. I picked up Code Name Verity from the library about 10 minutes ago.

    4. I have a job that I enjoy most of the time, with co-workers that I like most of the time, that gives me a flexible workday so that I don't have to take PTO for personal stuff that needs to get done during the 9-5, like dr's appts or being the 'recess mom' once or twice a month.

    5. My fish dealer (ahem, I mean the saltwater distributor guy) dropped off a bunch of gorgeous new corals this morning.

  • 1) I just spent the most wonderful weekend at Disney with my beautiful little family and my best friend and her husband.

    3) My best friend's c/s is scheduled for tomorrow and I can't wait to meet my new nephew! A squishy baby that I get to play with and then give back whenever I want! There is nothing better!
    4) I'm going on another vacation in three weeks.
    5) I'm quitting my job on FRIDAY!! YAAAYY!

    2. We got World Cup tickets to Germany vs Ghana

@GilliC GAAAAAAAH! I'm so jealous! We were thisclose to booking tickets for Rio but then I found out I was pregnant and due in July. My OB said flying to Rio at 8 months pregnant was not a good idea.  She didn't buy my "But it's the WORLD CUP!" excuse.

  • 1. My husband is a really good house cleaner.

    2. I have amazing, supportive friends.

    3. We're going on vacation in a month!

    4. I have strawberries and chocolate fondue for dessert tonight.

    5. We find out if the baby is a boy or girl next week - I can't wait!

  • 1. MY KID. Sometimes she's the only thing can put a smile on my face. She is the best part of my day and I adore spending time with her.

    2. I’ve been really focusing on my overall health this year and it’s paying off. I feel better than I have in a long time. As a bonus, I’m about 3.5 lbs away from my goal weight and while I still have some work to do, it’s nice to see results know I’m really on the right track.

    3. I’m finally going to finish University this year. I’m SO ready to be done. 1.5 semesters to go!

    4. MH was laid off at the end of Jan and while that stinks, he’s been doing all the cooking and cleaning at home, and has been getting things checked off of my random to-do list. It’s been nice (though I won’t deny it’d be nicer if he had a job).

    5. By the time I go to bed tonight my “term paper from hell” will be submitted and I won’t have to look at it ever again.

We entered the draws for so many tickets! I'm just glad we got something!

(Actually, I love both Germany and Ghana, so this is what I really wanted! Just don't tell my Brazilian boyfriend, because I have to be disappointed that we didn't get tickets to a Brazil game!  ;) Now to decide which team I'm going to cheer for!)

The final would have been amazing! But even though we have plenty of places to stay in Rio, getting there would have been a PitA. I'm kind of happy we can just relax and spend the time with his family in Fortaleza.

  • 1) I love my new job. I didn't think I would like being on the phone/computer for 12 hour shifts but it's actually ok. So different from bedside nursing though!
    2) My mom finished occupational therapy this week. She goes to the surgeon next week to see if her weight restrictions are lifted (broke her elbow the week before Thanksgiving and has MS so it's been a long road). She's back to work already and doing well. I initially thought this would be an injury that led to retirement.
    3) I got the rest of my orientation schedule and I don't work weekends until I'm off orientation. Hooray for having 3 months of free weekends!
    4) My dog, I love him. He's my constant companion at home.
    5) I got to see both my girlfriends who have small children this past weekend and I'm heading to a gathering tonight with some old work friends. Texting and chatting is nice, but it's great to see people face to face!
