Looking for Chew Toy recommendations

I've got a ferocious chewer.  normal stuffed squeaker toys are destroyed within minutes.  She has powerful chewer KONGs, however we're working through a possible food allergy right now, so I'm limited to what I can stuff them with (no peanut butter, cheese, or bananas...my usual go-tos) and she is only interested in them when there is food in them. She has a Nylabone that keeps her busy for a while...but she still gets bored and I'd like her to have a few options.

she destroyed a Tuffy toy last night (she had worked on it before, but last night she got the sqeaker out) any experience with GoDog Chew Guard toys? other KONG products? so far she has been good about leaving our shoes, furniture, etc alone...I'd like to give her a few more options so we can continue the trend.

Re: Looking for Chew Toy recommendations

  • For chew toys, we have an assortment of Kongs (that you don't have to fill with treats), Tuffies, and Nylabones that have held up pretty well. We stay away from anything stuffed as they don't last longer than an hour. Every few months I'll go to our local pet store and look for something labeled extreme or durable.

  • she'll chew the KONGs empty for a little bit.  her nightly routine is chewing something for 30-45 minutes then dozing off...lately the KONGs and Nylabone are apparently not good enough, she'll chew for a minute, then bother the cat, or find a shoe to carry around (like I said we've caught her early enough with the shoes that she hasn't destroyed any), she'll try to get be hind the couch to find a cat toy...I love our local pet shop, but their stuff is way overpriced, the put out coupons occasionally and I alwys shop from them when I have a coupon.  Unfortunately for variety and price I'm usually driven towards amazon.

  • The Galileo nylabone is excellent, and my dogs REALLY like antlers for chewing.

  • I second the antlers. They're the only thing that lasts for Wilfred and he LOVES them. Plus no mess. There is a local red deer farm that sells antlers that have fallen off.

  • My dog loves her antlers! She digs through her toy box just to get to them. They seem to keep her teeth clean too. Be wary of the water buffalo horns though, they can cause serious digestion issues and nasty gas.

  • I'd love to get her some antlers, but because we're trying to figure out an allergy she's on a limited ingredient diet, I'm not sure if introducing another animal product would be a good idea.

  • My dog June is also hard on toys and finding things for her are tough. Planet dog makes great toys that are rated by chewing strength and if you dog destroys them the have great customer service. No terribly expensive either. June loves her planet earth ball it lasts for months and keeps her interested. there is a space for treats but she is just as content to play with it alone. Also if you have a yard the jolly ball is a great outdoor toy. Good luck!!
  • Thanks @Valentine2013, I'll check out Planet dog! We did get her a KONG Safestick (it looks a bit like a giant adult toy, but she can't get enough of it, she carried it around most of last night trying to get us to play tug with her).

We have several toss toys she loves, unfortunately our yard is covered in about 10 inches of icy snow right now and the dog park is closed for the winter.  Everyone has a bit of cabin fever right now.
