Q about ultility bill- need help!!

We're thinking of buying a house. How much would utilities cost in a 1600 sq. ft house? Need numbers for electric, water and sewer.

We pay about $300 for gas (heat and cooking) electric and water. No sewer bill in the city. It's a bit higher the last few months and if it's crazy hot. I can't remember the breakdown.

Our house is around 1800 sq feet, old windows, not the best insulated...

Water: ~$50/month
PGW: depends on the month, as low as $60 in the summer and as high as $400 in the winter. (Heat, hot water, stove and oven, dryer).
PECO: also depends on the month. As high as $300 in the summer (central air running) and around $100/month in the winter.

It all really depends on what type of heat and appliances you have, how often they are used and how energy efficient your home is. I'm pretty sure oil heat is way more expensive than gas or electric right now.

If you are serious about a home, you can ask the seller to provide you with an estimate as to the utilities.

Some things to be aware of:

- AQUA: this is the main provider of water services outside of the City of Philadelphia; however, a number of local towns operate their own water companies. The City of Philadelphia has their own water department.

- PECO: primary electric provider (both in- and out-of-city); they also provide natural gas service outside of the city; you can also get on the budget plan, where you are billed the same amount each month (understanding that you may have higher usage in the summer/winter, but lower usage in the spring/fall months).

- PGW (Philadelphia Gas Works): the natural gas provider in the City of Philadelphia.

Our house is about 1200 sq ft, with new windows, and (relatively) new appliances.  

PECO- in the winter and summer we pay about $200-$250 for gas and electric (the $250 is usually due to Christmas lights).  In the spring/fall it's about $100-$150.  We don't have central air, and only keep the window units on when we are home.  

Penna American Water- our water bill is about $45.  It used to be $40, but our son will only get a bath if the water is running, so that's upped our bill.

Our sewer billing system has just  changed from every three months to every four months.  So if I am understanding this correctly, every 4 months I owe them $116.

We live in Philadelphia, our water is bill is always somewhere between $40-50 a month.  Gas (stove and heater) this winter our highest gas bill was $123.00. In the summer our gas bill goes down to around $23.  AS for Electric, I have no clue what our bills are like.  DH handles the bills and all he talks about is the gas and water bill.

We have fairly new windows.  We also live in a 900 Sq. ft rowhouse, and our HVAC system is just a month or two over 2 years old.
