Let's pretend you're planning a 3-year-old boy's birthday party. What would you do? (Bonus points for pics of K's 3rd birthday, Alicia!)
DS definitely "gets" birthdays this year, so we want to do more than a slice of cake with a few local family members like we have in the past. Neither DH nor I are really loving the idea of a big on-location party, both from a cost perspective and the fact that we like cooking and more low-key parties. So I'm guessing we'll just do something at home. But I'd love some ideas for themes or activities. He's a May baby, so weather might be good, but I don't want to count on being able to just let the toddlers go wild outside.
The only thing I can come up with so far is a Curious George theme, since he loves the shows, books, and his stuffed George monkey.
Re: Preschooler birthday parties
Birthdays for my kids have been joint parties, and family only... Themes are basically just for choosing the character for their respective cakes. I think I have pictures of most of the cakes on my FB page. Going to put the characters for both of my kids' cakes over the years:
Shannon Kyle
1yo -- baby Snoopy on a rocking horse
2yo -- polka dots (matched her dress)
4yo -- Millie (Team Umi Zoomi) 2yo -- Bot w/ #2 on his belly screen
Kyle is currently into Paw Patrol, Tree Fu Tom, Thomas the Tank Engine, Super Why, Zou (zebra), Monsters Inc, Despicable Me (he basically just likes the Minions), Cars, Planes, Elmo, Pete the Cat (books), The Day the Crayons Quit (book), trucks, dinosaurs, robots, etc...
