SBC Ideas!

It's that time of year again. Spring is in the air! Can you feel it? Or are you still under 6 ft of snow?!
Either way its time for SBC! So post your ideas, thoughts, questions, comments, etc.
I used up a lot of my database of ideas for WBC so even if you think its a silly idea or been used before please post it!

Re: SBC Ideas!

  • I don't know what this "spring" is that you speak of.

I know right. I am pretty sure I will never see green grass and sunshine ever again.
  • There's a couple of Buzzfeed lists with some good book recs. Maybe read a book from each of these lists (two separate categories)?

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Read a book with the proper name of an animal in the title (ie Shiloh, Old Yeller, Secretariat, etc...)
  • Read a book whose movie version you have already seen

A book written by someone under 30

The first book by a favorite author

A book published the year you were born

This has been done before I still like it:

Stand in front a bookshelf (at home, store, library, etc...) close your eyes and pick a book at random

I'm taking the year off of challenges to catch up on my backlog, but here are a few spring ideas I came up with over the last year:

IHO of The Audies in late May, listen to an Audie award finalist audio book (from any year).

IHO of April Fool's day, read a book with a funny title or cover.

  • I like a lot of the suggestions so far. I tried to quote but it obviously didn't work.

-Read the next book you see a stranger reading in public.
-IHO of spring, read a book with a flower(s) on the cover. (Original, I know.)
-IHO spring break, read a book with a beach on the cover.

  • I'm loving these suggestions, I'm not sure if this has been suggested before:

IHO of Mothers Day read a book that your mother loved/recommended.

IHO of the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion read a book about World War Two.  It can also be a work of fiction where the story or character has something to do with WWII.

Awesome! There are some great ideas here!! Thanks for all the input!
  • Nurses week and EMS week will be during SBC and there are lots of fiction and non fiction books that center around healthcare. Maybe read a book where the main character requires hospitalization at some point or a non fiction book about a healthcare topic.
