Lent Challenge check-in

How did you beat laziness this weekend?  What all do you have planned to stay active this week?

Re: Lent Challenge check-in

  • Running around like crazy!  Plus I made it to the gym this weekend.

Rinse and repeat this week )

I'm making myself work out for at least 20 minutes every day.  I didn't work out this weekend but I did get pregnancy shots done on all the goats that are due through the end of March.  Gave supplements to those that needed it and got a nasty infected wound cleaned out.  That took a lot of time, so I gave myself a pass this weekend.

The rest of this week is at least 20 minute work outs every day.

  • I'm back to working out this week.  My back is feeling much better, so I hope it does ok.  I really wanted to start up again on Saturday, but didn't want to risk it.

Friday night, we had our massage, so didn't feel like doing much after that.  I did manage to do some dishes and make some dinner.  Normally, I would have sat on my butt and either had H make something or just order in.

Saturday, we ran a ton of errands and I started working on H's birthday cake.  I'm attempting a replica of his beer pong table, so I started working on the red solo cups.  It's coming out good so far.

Sunday, I went bridesmaid dress shopping with the bride and another friend/bridesmaid.  We went out for a late lunch and when I got home, I had to do some work so that took up the rest of the evening.  Also managed to do some laundry through all of that. :)

This week, I'd like to completely finish laundry and put away all of our clothes and organize closets.  I don't know how much I'll be able to get done, but we really need to get things on track.  We are also going to start planning out our patio design and getting pricing for materials.

Just thought I'd share this great leg workout I came up with.  I did this twice a week for a month and lost an inch and a half on my thighs!  I'm going back to this routine this week, through the rest of lent.  I have an arm and ab routine too if anyone is interested.  If you don't like doing 20 reps at a time you could cut it down to 12 and do each set 3 times instead of 2.

    SET ONE:

    1 minute wall sit

Walking lounges (I'd just walk the entire room 4 times)

    20 side lounges (each leg)

20 fire hydrants (each leg) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La3xYT8MGks

    REPEAT SET ONE ONCE

    SET TWO:

    20 Straight leg dead lifts

    20 light weight squats

    20 weighted calf raises

    20 donkey kicks

    REPEAT SET 2 ONCE.

  • I have been pretty good about not being so lazy. Yesterday I had no desire to do anything though. I did make chicken soup though that I didn't expect myself to make. Does that count?

  • I was having a serious case of the Monday's yesterday and all I wanted to do when I got home was sit my butt on the couch and relax.  But, instead I ended up vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen, baking a cake, making lemon curd and some buttercream icing.  I am making a test cake of the one I'm planning on doing for H's birthday next month.  I'm going to bring it up to work and give it away so we don't end up eating it all!

  • Yasmin, I had the same problem yesterday.  Just the worst case of the Mondays ever, stupid Daylight Savings!  I didn't workout, but made fondue and did laundry instead.

Whenever I bake, I always say I'll bring the leftovers into work, but then I just eat them instead...

  • I think it is Daylight Savings screwing with me too!!

I'm going to allow myself one small piece and I'll be fine with that.  I'm more concerned about H!  He will eat the whole thing if I don't intervene.  It's an 8" triple layer cake, so it has to get out of our house!

  • I've done some exercise every day since the challenge started, even yesterday which was my double shift at work! I've started doing some yoga on days when I don't go to the gym, so not intense exercise but something to keep me moving. I also just started a multivitamin that's supposed to promote energy and metabolism, so we'll see how that goes.

  • Talk about a case of the Mondays: I got home, took my pants off, poured myself a drink and marathoned the hell out of Mad Men.  Well!

I literally LOLed.  Nothing like netflix without pants!
  • I believe that someone on here once said, "Pants are overrated". I live by that motto.

  • On a related note on the lack of pants subject..

In all seriousness, I was close to meeting my step goal today. It may have helped that I had to park far away from the doctor's office.
I'm a bit sad though. It's been really nice weather wise lately and I want to break in my pair of Vibrams I bought over Christmas. Until I got home tonight, it was dark. Now they're calling for a high of 40 and low of 10 tomorrow and snow. I will never get to wear these shoes at this rate.

  • I was having a hard time getting motivated last night.  I couldn't get the energy to workout so I started cleaning my bathroom.  While cleaning the mirror I saw the dreaded underarm jiggle and suddenly I was motivated!
