New to the Rodeo

Hey y'all!

So how exactly does the rodeo work (with tickets and such)? I'm fairly new to Houston (been here almost a year) and really new to the rodeo. I grew up in a small town and the most we had every year was the state wide fair (which was minuscule in comparison to the rodeo) and the most I ever did with that was go to a concert and help my brother with the horses. 

What is the best night to go? Any tips for going and not spending a ton of money?

Hi! The rodeo sells out fast!  Most companies by the best tickets, so you might be able to get some from yours or your husbands. If not, try to buy them as early as possible. 

The lineup of all the bands should be available on the website. Find someone you want to hear - that will be the best night  We like going the last day, because they are playing for the Rodeo Championship and the competitors are really good.  The down side is most of the livestock is sold by then.  So if walking through the barns is your thing - go earlier.  

No matter what night you go, you'll have a blast!  My old advice for not spending a lot is to buy a Rodeo Fun Pack if you like carnival rides and junk food - you will have some that way.

Also, if you're wine drinker, be sure to check out the wine garden.  They always a live band and we like to hang out there about 1-2 hours before the rodeo starts.
