I am so sick of winter. It is -17c out this morning. The two week forcast doesn't look good.

Green Days American Idiot rock opera is in Toronto this week. I am really upset I didn't know about this earlier. It looks awesome.
  • My boss sent us an e-mail about a specific type of candidate we have to get permission to work with.  I was confused so I asked her what they were.  The answer I got?

    "Please just follow procedure."

So I guess I'm not allowed to ask for clarification.  It really pissed me off this morning.

It really irritated me but it's tempered by the fact that the GM in the Pacific Northwest e-mailed everyone under the sun telling them that I'm doing a fantastic job.  She normally doesn't pass the kudos on when they just tell her that I'm doing well.  She prefers to rule with fear and intimidation and doesn't like it when others recognize the work we do.

I don't envy you that.  Showering with contacts in is a pain in the ass!

  • The rather small town where I currently live just got a new concert venue and there are some awesome acts coming to town this year.  I hope they can maintain quality beyond the first year.  I'm stoked to see Indigo Girls and Toad the Wet Sprocket again (two different shows) and excited about the Smithereens, too.

  • I don't want to be at work today at all.  That isn't random or really anything new, but I'm feeling it pretty strong today.  Instead of working, I'm looking up plane tickets right now.  I'm not necessarily going anywhere, but it keeps my mind occupied and relatively happy, so that's what I'm doing!

I have this issue too.  I wear my contacts 95% of the time but on random days I feel like wearing my glasses it's such a pain to put on eye make-up because I can't see without my glasses!

  • So apparently it's a good thing I am still working because I was able to figure out how to get our printer to work when our IT guy couldn't. Since January our two tray printer has been sitting on the ground so you can imagine how much fun that has been for me when we need to change paper. So we just got 3 new printer trays and the IT guy added them to our printer. We were talking with him trying to figure out how the printer was going to know what type paper we needed when. He kind of talked in circles and told us the way the printer worked it may not sense the new trays right away, told us we had to fix the paper guides which wouldn't work since all the paper we use is the same size but some of it is on letterhead or bond paper. So basically he was rendering it useless to us, until he played around on the system and said he'd get back to us in a day or two. My coworker basically yells at him until he leaves and then she storms off to complain to our boss. I went through the printer menu, since it has a computer brain now, figured out how to label the trays the way we need them to work and walah! the printer is set up the way we need it to and works perfectly.

    So...go me.

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

For makeup I use a hand mirror.  I can't wear contacts so I'm stuck with glasses, and the hand mirror with magnification is a necessity.  I even pack it in my luggage when I travel.

  • Well, I'm officially an idiot. I was just reviewing my maternity leave policy to make sure I hadn't missed anything and sure enough-after I submitted the request I was suppose to have received a packet including paperwork that needs to be signed by my doctor. HR is overnighting a packet to me tonight but I am still going to frantically search my house when I get home. I'm now hoping I don't go on time if I can't find this packet in my house tonight so I can get my dr signatures on Monday at my NST.

Can you fax it to your doctor's office ahead of time so they can make sure to have it done for your appointment?
