Who the fark are all these women perusing Craigslist for men?

So I am gathering from here and there that Craigslist seems to be one of the top ways that wayward men are finding their jollies.  I just can't imagine ever looking for a guy to screw on Craigslist.  Who in the world are these women on there?  Don't they know the men are creeps?  I don't know I just have been trying to find real love and relationships so it's never occurred to me to troll Craigslist for sex.  Is it hookers?  Do most of them get paid?

Re: Who the fark are all these women perusing Craigslist for men?

  • While I didn't post an ad on the "casual" section, I did post an ad looking for a man in their "Women Seeking Men" section.  NOT for sex; but for an actual relationship.  I had some specific things I wanted, and the guys I'd been seeing weren't quite clicking with me.

I did, actually, meet a guy that I dated for about 6 months through that ad.

I had to weed through the skeevers, trolls and perverts though.

Some women just want a casual, NSA fling.  More power to them I say.  Hell, I've done that myself, though I -usually- prefer to know the guy and make sure I can at least have an intelligent conversation with him prior to the hook up.

Pretty sure I'm not a hooker.  :)  And, while that guy DID pay for my meals, I never got any money out of it.

Seems like a dating website would be more of the way to go if you are looking for a relationship.  Did you put your picture in your CL ad?

Any woman who is on there looking for a NSA thing obviously has low morals because I'm gonna assume that AT LEAST half of the men that want NSA on there are in "committed" relationships and want something extra on the down low.

Gah, people just seriously make me sick.

Why do you care? Did you lose someone to a Craigslist lover? Maybe you should post an ad on Craigslist asking them.

  • Maybe some women want to 'find their jollies' the same way that the men do.  Or, maybe some of these women have issues.  For example, maybe they were sexually abused as children.

  • Same thing as what the men do: advertise for sex because they want a quick fix.

There are chat rooms for the same thing. These places still exist.

Maybe they are hookers, maybe they want F buddies, maybe they're juggling multiple affairs.

Only they can explain why they do it.
  • There's not really that many women looking for sex on Craigslist. Many of the ones who are, are in fact looking for other women. There are lots of guys that post on CL looking for sex, sure. That doesn't mean that they find it, just that they're that dumb and desperate. And regardless, the person seeking an affair while married is the one cheating, so please blame the men/women looking to do that and not the single folks looking to hook up.

I'd done dating websites.  Why are they somehow better than CL?

Suffice to say, I wasn't finding what I wanted on those dating websites, and got JUST as many skeevers and perverts looking to just "hook up" as I ever got on Craigslist.

And yes, I put my photo on my CL ad.  Why wouldn't I?  I'm no prize catch by any means, and yes, the photo included my face.

Why do you assume if she's on CL she has 'low morals'?  You're not the morality police the last time I checked.  Every person is able and capable of deciding where their morality line is.  Women as it is NOW have to battle slut shaming without other women judging them.  I've had plenty of casual partners, and I feel zero shame in it.  I guess I have low morals then.

And, if those men looking for NSA...let me point out something that just might blow your mind.

SOME couples are okay with swinging.  Or their partners having casual sex, as LONG as their partner doesn't "fall in love" with that sex partner.  CRAZY, right?  And I'm not even going to go in to poly as that might just COMPLETELY blow your mind.

Now, the men AND women who are seeking sex on the downlow are scum.  If you're afraid to tell your spouse what you're doing, you know you're doing wrong.  I personally feel that THAT is shameful, and THAT is wrong.  But, they're the ones who have to live with themselves.  So, that's on them.

Judgmental people with a narrow minded view of the world make me sick, personally.  Unless you are involved in someone's relationship, you have no idea what might be going on 'behind the scenes' or what agreement that couple may have.

People used to (and probably still do) respond to personal ads in the newspaper. How is Craigslist that different?

  • Maybe they are just lonely and want no strings attached.

Don't blame CL or chat rooms or websites for this bullshit --- there used to be pick up bars made for the same thing and hookers were pretty plentiful.  And a guy or woman can always find an easy mark; you don't have to look on line to find one.
  • I don't see how it's that different from dating sites either. I used dating sites and met my DH on one, and I had plenty of creeps sending me unsolicited photos of their dongs. There are liars and cheaters everywhere, including the real world. And if two consenting adults are looking for NSA fun, why is that such a bad thing? Not every relationship ends in marriage.
