NBR: How old were you when you got your first ear piercing

I'm absolutely certain that I have cried (newly given birth and super hormonal) over thinking that they will ever poke holes in their beautiful perfect little ears.
Izzy and Baby A ~ Adorable Punks
I always said I'd let my daughter get hers done when she asked. As soon as she turned 2 she started asking to get her ears "peered". I told her it hurt and it was like stapling her ear lobe. She said that would be fine. So my mom and I took her. She didn't even flinch. (I did see her eyes widen for a half sec though. Then back to her poker face.)
After it was done she said "See, that was just fine." Then she received a thin application of barely-pink lip gloss and a lolly pop from the store that did it. No problems or infections.
When we got home my husband whooped for joy and twirled her around. Then he called his mom in Morocco. She whooped as well and said "congratulations" in derija a dozen times. It was good!
Now I couldn't imagine not having earrings. Because of what I do everyday earrings are really the only jewelry I can wear so it's the only way I have each day to feel a little dressy/girly. Heck even my wedding ring is on my right hand 90% of the time (except the 1 day/week I don't practice).
13. I almost passed out.
I don't see it so much as a "coming of age" thing but as a "I don't want another damn thing to have to worry about so you are waiting until you can take care of them yourself" thing.
Leah hasn't asked yet & I'm okay with that!
My ears are pretty sensititive so I pretty much exclusively wear small-ish light weight hoops.

I was 9. It wasn't a birthday thing or anything, but I had a list of things I needed to be able to do to prove that I was responsible, then I could get them. I got my second set of earrings in HS, a third in one ear, my cartiledge, and tongue in college. Hey, it was college.
My girls don't have their ears peirced. I told Sophie she has to be 9, but in reality she just has to be able to take care of them without them getting infected. She's 5, and we're still working on her accomplishing some of the more basic hygeine things by herself (like shampooing), so I don't see it happening anytime soon.
