Active Underwear? Is it worth it?

I recently started running and just the other day at Target I noticed that they had active underwear for women, from thongs to boy shorts. The brand was Champion.

I never heard of active underwear, is it necessary? Does it really do anything different than regular underwear? I've had no problems with regular underwear, but was just curious if active underwear is just a money making scam or if it really does help with running in some way...

Re: Active Underwear? Is it worth it?

  • For running I prefer the running shorts that have the underwear built in. I've honestly never tried active underwear (other than what comes in my running shorts :) ), seems like a money making scam to me. I use my older undies for other workouts; strength training, cycling, etc.

are they compression underwear? or made of some wicking material? otherwise I guess I don't see how they would help

  • It all depends on the sport. If you are doing something where having wet cotton can cause problems it can be helpful. For some people it may help prevent chaffing.
