Board "perk up" poll

If you were headed off to another planet because Earth was no longer able to sustain life, and you could only bring 5 books with you, which books would you choose? (This is non negotiable. You must go, and you can only bring 5.)

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - JKR
Lucifer's Hammer - Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
Daughter of the Forest - Juliet Marillier
Exiles Ruins of Ambrai - Melanie Rawn (even though it's from a trilogy that never got completed and still irks me to this day)
These Happy Golden Years- Laura Ingalls Wilder

In my imagination, in this hypothetical new world we would still all be able to keep in touch, so I figure as long as between all of us we have a full set of Harry Potter, then we're good to go!  I could re-read the series over and over and over again.

Nice idea! Now I feel like this board should should start a story circle where one person starts us off, then we take turns continuing the story. That would be crazy interesting with this group of people.

I don't think there's been an actual crash though.  This is just for the trip there.
