WIAR: Girl of Fire and Thorns (ns)

It's sooooooooo good! I love the uniqueness of the plot and how the MC commands respect, despite the fact that her self-esteem is in the sh!tter. I'm about halfway through and will probably finish it tonight. Has anyone else read this series?

  • I have and I felt the same way! I think you are going to like the following two as well.

The covers are beautiful, too. I thought it would be a great read for Seven Realms fans.
Duxcaelo's book recommendations, favorite quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (2011-goodreads shelf)
    Anniversary
  • I've got the second two on my dresser. At this rate, I'll have the whole series finished by Monday. :)

I read a scathing review of book 1 in which the reviewer accused the author of fat shaming. But that's so off base. Elisa has an unhealthy relationship with food at the beginning of the book, and from my own experience, I believe that her self-loathing is spot on.

  • I have this on my wishlist but haven't picked it up yet.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I just put this on hold at the library, thanks!

  • I haven't read the third yet, but I love this series!  I loved the first, but Crown of Embers I loved like 5x more even.  I've been waiting for a vacation so I can dive into The Bitter Kingdom and immerse myself deeper than I have had time for.

(I can't say as I blame Elisa for the food obsession -- everything sounds so delicious!  Don't read while hungry!)

Same here! I bought it a while ago but for some reason have never started the series. Now that it's complete, I need to do a binge-read!

  • I just keep seeing this title as a strange combination of:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo + A Song of Ice and Fire + The Thorn Birds

  • I loved this trilogy!  There's also a short story.  I just looked it up - there are actually two!  Must go find.

I started last night (yay vacation reading!) and I'm hooked. Elisa is awesome and in love the Spanish-esque fantasy setting. This is exactly what I needed right now.

I read and enjoyed Shadow Cats.  It's from Alodia's point of view.  I'll have to check out the other.
