    1) What did you want to be growing up? a police officer
    2) What was your first favorite song? I was a big Dolly Parton fan when I was really little. There was some song about waiting at a train station or something like that. I loved it. Listened on repeat at like 3 years old.
    3) First favorite book? The first I can remember is Where the Red Fern Grows
    4) What was a childhood hobby or activity you did regularly? I danced, swam, played piano, took riding lessons and went to Awanas. I also played softball in the summer.

ETA: ha! I say "listened on repeat" like that was actually a thing in the 80's. Really, it was my Dad walking into the living room and queuing up the record to the right spot over and over again.

    1. A marine biologist or a vet.

    2. MJ's Thriller was my first tape, and I remember dancing like crazy to the whole thing.  My favorite song was probably Bad.

    3. I had all of the Mr. and Little Miss books.  My girls have them now.

    4. I collected things.  Anything.  Everything.  Minerals, leaves, books that looked cool, scissors, science stuff.  I had them categorized and labeled, and would change displays regularly like my room was a museum.  I keep a couple of them up today, but most have been relegated to garage sales or my parent's attic.

  • 1) What did you want to be growing up?
An artist. My grandmother painted these teeny tiny intricate images on wooden       crafts and I somehow thought I would have that ability (I don't. She also did full sized paintings and I can't do that either.)
    2) What was your first favorite song?
Something from The Lion King I'm sure. I wore out that tape.
    3) First favorite book?
I'm sure I had one as a small child, but I don't remember it. I was obsessed with Baby Sitters Club and The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.
    4) What was a childhood hobby or activity you did regularly?
I really into twirling/dance. I also had a palomino that was my baby. She only allowed me to ride her and I would ride her bare back with just leads hooked to her halter to all my near by family's homes. She was temperamental and stubborn and man I miss that horse. I also miss being tan. I grew up on a farm, pretty much outside at least 8 hours a day and I was soo tan and my hair was super blonde with no product or dye.

Or what about The Saddle Club series?  I desperately wanted to be friends with Carole, Stevie, and Lisa!

@julie37619 Marguerite Henry was brilliant. BRILLIANT. I think it was
Black Gold that introduced me to Thoroughbred racing. She really opened a door for me.

Mustang: Wild Spirit of the West began my foray into animal rights. That she could tell a tale of animal cruelty in a way that was inspiring yet not repugnant is a testament to her ability as a storyteller.
