More Aldi's reviews...

This week's ad promoted a 24oz, bacon-wrapped chicken roast for $5.99. We had it for dinner last night with homemade roasted potato wedges and roasted brussel sprouts... OMG it was so good! The kids ate it up!

Aldi's cheese puffs (Clancy's brand) - not impressive.

Just thought you might want to know about the meat, especially. I know the sale goes through tomorrow (not sure if it's regional, though).

Good to know!  I don't think I've had their cheese puffs.  We did start buying their simply nature brand organic fruit twists...a few months ago we switched Jake to an artificial dye-free diet, so I always keep my eye out for some type of "fun" snack foods he can have and he really likes these:

My kids love those!  We also get the simply nature fruit snacks.  I've recently discovered simply nature edge bars.  They are like cliff bars.  The chocolate chip is my favorite.

I've tried just about every Simply Nature product I can find at Aldi and have not been disappointed yet! The pasta sauce is delicious, too!

  • Ryan-I've been impressed with the simply nature products, too...except the pasta sauce!  at least the marinara sauce...it was a bit too chunky and too bitter/acidic for my taste.

  • I liked it - I loved that it was chunky, but yeah it is a bit bitter, I added some sugar in the raw to it. I forgot about that!

  • I'm also a fan of the simply nature products. We like the fruit snacks and applesauce pouches for lunches :)
  • I agree.  I like all the simply nature products.  I get bummed when I start buying something (simply nature string cheese and teddy grahams) and then they disappear never to be seen again.

  • I was bummed about the Teddy Grahams too! G loved those.

I love my Aldi's... anyone else notice their prices went up? It seems like all my staples keep increasing in price.

You know what, I've been noticing my bill is consistently higher than it used to be.  I wasn't sure if the prices were going up or if I was just buying more.

  • Thanks for the review!

DH and I like their individually packaged bacon wrapped filet mignon.  I think it is sold in a 2 pack.  It is great for portion control or if we want to do surf and turf.

The frozen box of 4 bacon wrapped turkey filets are also excellent.  They are a special buy so we stock up when we see them and we usually pair them with a Tastefully Simple sauce.

These small filet options make cooking for two very easy.

  • EVERYTHING is going up, due to the cost of fuel. And then that one Senator sneezed, whcih caused healthcare to go up, which effects the rise of groceries, too.  :P

Just beware- I am not a grocery store snob by any means- but it was kind of an odd scene to walk into first time around! (might just be me though). I'd recommend you to bring a quarter to use a cart and your own bags do you don't have to buy them.

  • I thought it was odd at first too, but now I save so much money that I got over that quickly. :)

    Agreed 100%!

Also, FYI they only take debit or cash- not credit.
  • I like it b/c its quick.  There are some things I can't get there that I need but I can be in and out (with 3 kids) in 30 mins which for a week's worth of shopping is pretty good.
