Re: Weekend Reading Update

  • I neglected Pride and Prejudice, but I tore a chunk out of IT this weekend.  I hope to be FINALLY finished by the end of this week.

I didn't accomplish much reading. I am thisclose to finishing The Look of Love by Bella Andre.

It looks and feels like spring here! Woohoo!!
  • I got through about 20% of HP1 on audio and came so close to finishing Chasing Fire. I think I finally feel asleep last night with about 10 pages left.

  • I finished The Midwife's Confession and started The Tao of Martha.

  • I finished Animal Farm and Waking Up Married, both of which I liked.  Waking Up Married is silly and mindless but I enjoyed it and it's free for kindle if anyone is interested!

  • I got through almost half of The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass.  It's awful.  It's for book club so I have to finish.  I gave up on the Kindle book and downloaded it on audio so I just plug in when I can.  Brutal.

  • I kicked some reading ass this weekend. I started Girl of Fire and Thorns Thursday, and finished it Friday.  I started and finished book 2 Saturday and I'm halfway through book 3 now.   I can't say enough good things about them.

  • I'm still working on listening to Voyager.  I think I have 15 hours left.  I finished reading a YA - So Much Closer.  It wasn't very good.  I also read a few chapters of the new Nora Roberts - it isn't as good as some of her previous books.
  • I finished Blue Dahlia last night and completely neglected my IRL book club book, Rebecca.  I'm not very far into it yet and it hasn't grabbed me yet.

Unfortunately, spring doesn't seem to be wanting to show up here.  It's -32C with the wind here this morning!  It's supposed to warm up to 0 though after today!!

I finished The boy in the striped pajamas - I gave it 4 stars, which was generous.  Without spoiling the story, I think it would have been more believable had the MC been several years younger.

Finished Shug by Jenny Han this morning.  I think I'm over the younger-YA/Middle Grade scene.  They're just not as relatable for me.

I'm convinced that spring will never come.  It's supposed to get to the high 60's today, but it frickin' snowed yesterday.  I'm afraid to set out my seedlings (which should have gone outside a week or so ago) because the weather is drunk.  MH thinks I'm drunk because of the amount of tiny kale plants sitting in red solo cups on our windowsills.

  • I made decent progress on Days of Blood and Starlight and The Museum of Extraordinary Things.  Blood and Starlight is okay, and Museum is starting to get insanely good.

  • I made good progress on The Firebird.

  • I finished The Wolf of Wall Street.  I'm so torn about it.  I ended up giving it 2 stars.  It was entertaining enough to keep me reading and to not quit on it despite how much I hated the author/main character, but God, what an asshole.

And I started This is a Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl.  Meh, we'll see.  Something about a biography while the subject is still young and doing awesome new stuff seems wrong to me.  Like, it's just going to be outdated soon enough, kwim?  But someone recommended it to me because I'm a big fan of Dave Grohl, so I'll try.
  • I finished The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes, read 3/4 of Cinder Marissa Meyer and a decent chunk of Dragonfly in Amber.

  • I finished Amanda Knox's memoir and started The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta.

@jackiback, how was the Amanda Knox book?
  • I read a good chunk of The Goldfinch.  I was able to polish off the last 5% of it at my desk this morning.  I am glad to be finished finally.
    90 books in 2015?

  • I finished The Fiery Cross!  That one is definitely the slowest, but still so good.

I also got about halfway through Father Mine, the BDB novella about Z and Bella, waiting for the next one to come out on Tuesday :)

  • I finished The Testing, which I really enjoyed. Similar to THG/Divergent. Of course the library doesn't have the next book and I am trying to spend less money on books.

I also read Along For The Ride and didn't really like it. I found the MC to be incredibly unlikeable.

I neglected The Archived simply because I own it and the others were library books. I've been enjoying it though and hope to make some progress on it this week.

I started Bruiser last night and got about 1/3 of the way in. I am enjoying it so far!

  • I finished Entwined by you an Annabel (a Delirium short story). I also read some of the goldfinch.
  • I started, and haven't been able to put down, Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. I'm definitely a sucker for a good WWII book!!

  • I finished Gone Girl on Friday night, started Ten Tiny Breaths Friday night, and then finished that Saturday night.  I started Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover yesterday and am about 160 pages into it.  This is by far the most I've read in awhile.

Same here. I've been binge reading this series all weekend too. I just can't put these books down. I'll probably finish The Bitter Kingdom tonight or tomorrow.

  • Since I stayed home from work yesterday I'm counting it as part of my weekend lol.

Finished Magic Bites (Kate Daniels #1).  I didn't really like it, which surprised me.  I gave it 2 stars and I won't conitinue with the series.  Kinda makes me sad since I had high hopes for it.

Started Dirty Little Secrets and I'm half way through.  So far so good.
