I LOVED it!! 

I was upset with the new Daario; he's far less sexy than the last one. I don't think he exudes the right characteristics, but I'll have to wait to see him a little more to make that call.

Arya is definitely coming into her bad-assness. (Future plot point alert!!) I can't wait to see her across the Narrow Sea in Bravos!!

And I am damn near vibrating out of excitement for Joffrey and Margery's wedding; holy hell, I cannot WAIT for that little shit to get his!!

I forget why Cersei saw Qyburn...I know in the books she had him doing...stuff...to other people; perhaps that's starting now? 

Prince Oberyn...Red Viper...talk about suave.

I'm not excited for this season of Daenerys. I won't give it all away, but if they keep it close to the books, it's going to be a long and tedious season for her hanging out in Meereen.

I can definitely see Dany's storyline dragging this season, but that seems to be the norm with her. It's like something huge happens and then there's a big lull afterwards. We did get a sneak peek into Drogon's unpredictability though.

I am excited to see Arya get to Braavos, but I do see it being a slow storyline. I'm excited to see how the show portrays it.

I love Arya. I'm excited to see what is in store for Bran this season, too. I hope his story picks up. Do you think we'll see Rickon at all? lol

Did you catch when Oberyn was talking to Tyrion outside the brothel, he mentioned his sister (Elia? I think?) was left by Rhaegar for "another woman" which is why she was alone to be killed by Lannister troops. (or Robert's men, I thought.)

Might it be that Rhaegar was trying to get to Lyanna Stark while she was giving birth to (HIS SON!!) Jon Snow? ::head explodes:: They NEED to clear this up by the end of the series.

Bran's story should definitely pick up a little bit (I know what's in store for him north of the Wall). Rickon and Osha pretty much disappear after they split ways. I'm sure they'll come back eventually, but books 4/5 don't visit them at all.

As for the crackpot theory (lol). Yes, I know the story of Rhaegar leaving Elia for Lyanna. But Lyanna was sick or something, wasn't she? I can't remember exactly. Do you really think she was actually pregnant with Prince Rhaegar's child and Ned brought THAT child back, claiming it was his own bastard?? That'd be a twist I definitely had not considered when reading any of the books. It's not a possibility that's been mentioned so far in the books, but (as long as Jon survives!), I'm sure something will have to come out about it all (even though it appears that Ned was the only one who knew the truth of his mother, and he's obviously gone now).

I was all about Dany in the first couple of seasons. Her story arc has come down a LOT from there, though. I'm very hopeful it will come back up (it's hinted at at the end of the last book), but for now, she's not doing it for me quite so much. 

Still love Tyrion. Can't wait to see his upcoming adventures!!

Well, it is my impression that she died in childbirth. I don't think she was sick, but just hidden as she progressed with her pregnancy. I think the story was the Targaryen's had "captured" her or whatever. And considering what happened to Rhaenys and Aegon, Robert wouldn't bat an eye having children killed, especially if they were Targaryens. (umm, season 1 with Daenerys?) I think that's why Ned claimed Jon as his own; to protect the only part of his sister that he had left. He never said Jon was his son--just that he had his blood. He just never denied it when other people referred to Jon as his bastard. I just glommed onto "omg who's Jon Snow's mom?" since the beginning of the books/show and I hope that I get some resolution lol.

@amandaf6383 that is such a hard question to answer. LOL They are all so complex, and I find myself starting to feel sympathy for characters I've previously hated. (Theon, Jaime, and even Cersei, at times.) I'm always rooting for my girl, Arya. and Jon Snow. They're my favorite Starks.

I like Dany. I like seeing how she comes into her own and learns how to get what she wants. and DRAGONS!!! I still miss Khal Drogo though.

I love Tyrion and the hound, too.

I think Dorne will start coming up next season. IIRC, they were more in the 4th book and not the back half of 3.

Around the time Dorne pops up, we'll start seeing more of the Iron Islands. Their storyline bored me the most in the books, so I'm interested to see if they'll make it any more interesting for the show.

DH and I predict that the season finale will involve a certain character not shitting gold.

You really think it'll take all season to get there?? I feel like that needs to happen sooner, but considering books 4 and 5 followed the same timeline for different people, it's hard to say what will make it into this season and what will have to wait. Ugh!!

I certainly hope they don't drag it out, but neither of us can think of anything suspenseful/drastic enough that happens in the first part of the 4/5 timeline that would make for a good finale.

Yay, someone to discuss it with.  My husband doesn't watch fantasy and all my friends are at work.   I was hoping they'd get to the wedding in this episode, but now I am looking forward to the next episode even more.  I may go back and reread all the books since I am mentally jumping ahead from book 3.  I think I've combined books 3/4 in my brain.  I just want to be sure I am right on certain plot points.  I'm futilely hoping George R.R. Martin finishes book 6 soon.  I'm going nuts second guessing which characters have actually made the cut.

The books are running together for me, lol. I'm lucky that during the off season one of my GoT podcasts (don't hate lol) did a book club for storm of swords so I got a feel for the things they covered and the things that are to come since they are splitting books in the show. I can't wait til they get to the vale.

This is a good point. I hadn't even thought about the last two books focusing on different stories during the same time. This could get messy once the show completely catches up with the books. Come on GRRM, we're all waiting!!!

It's soooo good. It's a great distraction from real life. You don't get it? Have you tried to watch? The first couple episodes are very hard when you don't know people, places etc. it gets better! (Same with the first chapter in the book with the deserter)

Poppies! I watched the first season before I read any of the books. Once I picked up the books, it all made SO much more sense (and I could keep people's names straight much more easily!). Definitely start with the books; I have not been disappointed by the show compared with the books, although they do alter some storylines a little bit.

DH, who is so not into fantasy and the like, would NOT watch it with me at first. He just kept saying it wasn't his thing. Well between last season and this season, he decided to watch them all. He's hooked now!! It really does appeal to a broad viewership.

I say, either pick up the first book, or start watching a few of the first season's episodes, and go from there.
