Nest Book Club
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Those of you who have read it, do I have to have read The Shining before I read this?

  • You wouldn't HAVE to, I guess, but you should. It provides all of the background and is an amazing book.

  • I read the Shining about 12 years ago and barely remember anything from it other than the very basics.  If you wanted to skip reading the Shining before Doctor Sleep you could watch the movie or read a synopsis somewhere and get all the info you need.

  • The reason I ask is because of the SBC. I saw someone reading it today so I was wondering if I should do it for the challenge or wait for the next stranger reading opportunity, lol.

  • I think it'd be best if you read The Shining first, but it's not necessary.

    This.  You will probably enjoy Doctor Sleep infinitely more if you read The Shining first.
