Our verrrrrrry old house (1847) has 2 bathrooms, 1 on the first floor with a nice size tub, and 1 attached to the master bedroom with one of those plastic insert showers. This bathroom is jack-and-jill style, so there a door into our room and a door into the office -- so while it is a master bath, our kids also use it regularly.
Note: I love to soak, and I dislike going down a floor to do it.
With that said, we had a leaky roof in the master bath and now that the roof is fixed we are going to remodel the bathroom. I would LOVE to put a huge soaking tub in -- there's plenty of room for it -- but H said he would rather have one of thosse massive showers with a bunch of heads and maybe a bench in it.
H says he doesn't think an old house is equipped to hold up a huge tub full of water on the second floor (he may be right) and we are in the process of buying a hot tub, so he doesn't see why I would "need" a soaking tub.
I'm torn. I feel like, even though we won't sell for awhile, it's more attractive to have a bathtub on the second floor for children.
Any opinions one way or the other?
