Diaper Question

DS has really sensitive skin.  Our pedi and allergist suggested we use "free and clear diapers."  I bought Seventh Generation diapers.  Though the redness on his bum cleared up, he is leaking out of them badly,  especially at bedtime.  I then bought Earth's Best.  They were better in terms of absorbency, but his bum got a little red again.  I next bought Up and Up brand yesterday, and he leaked out of them once again last night.  However, I think part of the problem is he has now decided he likes to sleep on his stomach, which I think is causing him to leak overnight (we were having the same issue with Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers once he started rolling onto his stomach while sleeping, but no leaks during the day).  He is also a wiggle worm, and it takes 20 minutes to get a diaper on him, so I think at times the diapers aren't really on right.    He is only 19 pounds, so he is in size 3.  Size 4 are quite large on him.  Any suggestions on a good sensitive diaper to try, or do I just stick with the Seventh Generation diapers and waste a diaper an hour and keep changing him.

Re: Diaper Question

  • I am not a fan of Seventh Generations myself-  from what I understand they are actually dyed brown, and Hunter has an allergic reaction to them.

We have really good luck with Bj's brand of sensitive diapers, Generation Earth.  If you don't have a membership, sometimes you can find them on Amazon.

  • Ive actually had good luck with Seventh Generation so I havent tried many others, but a few to consider--Baby Naturecare, Tushies, and Honest Company. If you look on Amazon there are about 6 varieties to choose from that are more "natural" options. I hate to say it--cloth might be your best option. A friend of mine's kids both had terrible diaper rash and after trying many disposables they switched to cloth and they had no problems.

  • I just bought the BJ's generation earth diapers and they don't make it through the night for Henry. I'll be running to Target today to buy more Up&Up Target brand for night time. H has really sensitive skin and does fine in the Up&Ups. Maybe you can try the next size up for overnight?

Thanks for the heads up!  I was going to try the BJs diapers this weekend.  I may just buy a pack of Up and Up Size 4 and try those at night first.  It seems like the only time he leaks at night in the Up and Ups is when he decides to sleep on his stomach, which freaks me out anyway, but I can't keep him from rolling onto his stomach as he sleeps.  He is definetly like his Mama, who is also a stomach sleeper.

Henry is a stomach sleeper too, though I don't mind. After night three of a wet baby at 4 am I've officially given up on the BJ diapers for night time. This is probably stating the obvious but make sure his manhood is tucked down so he doesn't pee right out the top while on his belly. ;-)
