For this task, I re-read Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. I read it as a child and remember thinking it was a super action packed adventure. Reading it as an adult, it's pretty clear that it is intended for children. The characters were fairly one dimensional types for the most part (the bumbling nobleman, the patriotic English captain, the drunken pirates) and the action is fairly mild and takes place over a couple of weeks. As a child it seemed like the plot of the book spanned months. Also, as an adult I was amazed that the pirates managed to accomplish anything at all given how blindingly drunk they were every waking moment. It was still an enjoyable, if quick, read and definitely something I'd recommend for children.
