NovaSure and Essure

DH and I have been married for 7 years in July. We have two wonderful boys ages 5 an 2. We are both 100% happy with the size of our family and do not want any more kids. I spoke to my doctor and she recommend having a IUD put in. I am not wanting to do that I don't like the idea of something being in me. I don't want to take the pill and all the hormones for a number of years. My doctor mention having the procedure Novasure done to help with me heavy periods and Essure done for birth control. Just just wondering if any one has every had both procedures done. Would like to hear from someone who has had it done.

Re: NovaSure and Essure

  • I have had the Novasure, but I haven't had the Essure. I had a laparoscopic tubal with the ablation, and all I can say is that it's the best thing I have ever done. Obviously, you have to be 100% sure you don't want any more kids, even if you only get the Novasure. DH and I are older, and both have kids from our previous marriages, and after talking about it, we were sure we didn't want to have any more kids.
I've heard good and bad both about the Essure, but it's all anecdotal, I haven't done any research on it myself. Is there any reason you prefer the Essure to a tubal? Just curious.
