To paint or stain an island???

I have existing cherrywood cabinets in my kitchen. I just had a builder make me an island but he used different wood so I'm having a hard time finding a stain to match.  I should add, I have wood floors and doors in my small kitchen. So, do I just stain to the closest color even though it probably won't match or paint white to totally offset the cherry? ( The countertop is Carrera marble) Thanks!!!

Re: To paint or stain an island???

  • Most paint stores can actually match stain colors for you - if you bring in one of your existing cabinet doors, they can combine a stain with a paint to change the tint and you could match it that way.

If you are going to paint, it sounds like white would be the right way to go, but you'll likely want to use a paint sprayer and a high quality washable paint in order to get the best finish.
