So I read Mother and Me: Escape from Warsaw for this category for SBC. It's by Julian Padowicz. I picked this book up when I was in DC in March at the Holocaust Museum, I actually got to meet Julian. I talked to him for a little bit and he signed my book, so that was really great.
The book is his story from when he was 7, leaving Warsaw with a mother he hardly knew to try to survive the war. It follows him, his mother, his two aunts, and two cousins on their journey.
It's a good story. It was very descriptive at times, and I felt like some things could have been left out. It was a very good story though, and it was interesting to read a story about the Holocaust from the view of a younger child. It's a book about what it's like for a child to have everything he knows and loves taken away, and how his mother fights for their survival.
If you enjoy books about the Holocaust, I'd definitely recommend it!
