Thank you so much for this recommendation.  I loved it!  It took me a bit to get into, but after about 25%, I was hooked.  It was that kind of slow build, but then, all the sudden, I was biting my nails watching the cat and mouse game.  It was my third Ken Follett and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all.  Though it was nice not to read another of his giant books for once!

I'll start a spoiler post if anyone wants to discuss!

ETA: For reference, this was recommended because of my interest in reading more about Occupied France/women in WWII after Code Name Verity.  I also just requested Rose under Fire from the library.  I'm looking forward to getting it!

I am glad you enjoyed it.  I read this so many years ago.  I have a hard time remembering the details, but I do remember biting my nails throughout the story.

Yay!  Glad you liked it!  I read it while I was home on maternity leave with Tatum, so about 3 years ago now.  I really liked the different perspective on a WW2 story, with an all female team of spies.

This sounds really interesting.  I still haven't read any of Ken Follett's books even though I'm pretty sure I would love them.

This is the first shorter KF book I've read, and I LOVED it.  He is so good with historical fiction, he has the absolute perfect balance of made-up and history.

I have had this book on my shelf for years.  I think I'm finally going to have to read it.

I 100% agree!  I always feel like I learn something from his books, on top of it just being an excellent story.

It was really great having read Code Name Verity. I was able to jump in knowing about wireless sets and plane types.  It was so fascinating!

I loved this book. It was the first Ken Follett book I read. He writes the most impeccable spy novels. Another one of his I loved that was incredibly gripping was Eye of the Needle. Imagine being a woman alone stuck on an island with a spy/killer!
