Happy Friday! What are you reading?
How do you like it so far? Just for fun or one of the challenges?
Thanks
@fabk for posting last week. London was great. I was glad to get back there and with mid 60s/sunny all week it was lovely.
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!!

Reading The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara. It started off with a lot of build up - interesting build up, but it seemed to take a while for the story to really get going - and now I sort of can't put it down. To be honest, though, based on some reviews, I was expecting it to be so messed up and disturbing, but so far not so much. I have about 70 pages left, so maybe that's still coming.
Listening to Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's amazing, but you all know that already. You want to hear a BR FFFC? The reason I think it took me so long to pick this book up is because I'm a little bit prejudiced against female authors, especially with history books. I cannot explain myself, and I know it's completely irrational and goes against every feminist bone in my body, but there it is. The narrator is a dude, who sounds the part for a biography about Louie Zamperini, but I was a little hung up on the author being a woman for a while there. I'm glad I got over that and decided to pick it up.
These are numbers 18 and 19 for the year.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."
