Period wwyd?

Lets start the week of with a nice chat about my period.  :P

So, I know some of you know that I was wondering if I was pregnant a couple weeks ago.  My period finally came and now it won't stop.  I'm on day 9.  My "normal" is 5 days.  So, how long would you let it go before you call the doctor?  It's not heavy at this point.  Just light flow/spotting.

Re: Period wwyd?

  • I can offer no advice. My cycle has been all over the place (83-22 days long, spotting sometimes in there too).  I should call my doctor. but I keep putting it off.
  • Not to say that this is the case with you, and not to be a Debbie Downer here, but I had this happen to me and the end result was not the happiest.

Shortly after I got married I was also late - like a week or 10 days (and I always was dead-on with my cycle). I finally started what I thought to be my cycle - but it just kept going on and on. I never thought to question it - just figured it was making up for being late. (Oh I was so blissfully ignorant back then.) Finally, around day 14 I passed a clot and went to the ER, where I found out, through a blood test, that I was pregnant but miscarrying.

Like I said, I don't want to put bad thoughts in your head - I just wanted to share my experience.  I would probably give your cycle another day or two to, though, before contacting your doc. Even if you could just ask them to send you a script for a blood test, to save having to go in, I would probably do that for peace of mind. (Of course, this is all given my prior experience - this is what I would do.)

    Good luck.

    My three sons!

  • I would call the Dr.  I'm not a wait and see kind of person though.  GL!
  • Was it ever heavy? Because if not (conversely from Claire), maybe you are pregnant. I had light bleeding for weeks before I called the doctor (not sure why I waited) and when they made me take a test just in case - ta da! Give the doctor a call though. Good luck!

  • Thank you everybody for your input!  thankfully, it stopped yesterday.   Sarahandtim- yes it was pretty heavy the first couple of days.  I just think my body, like my children, like to drive me crazy.
