Hey,

Have anyone done something special for their dog's first birthday. We have a Chorkie and trying to figure out what to buy and how to celebrate dog first birthday..

Re: Dogs first birthday

  • There is a local pet supply store here that hosts doggy birthday parties, complete with pup cakes. Not sure if you have anything like that where you are, but it is pretty sweet looking.

Also, please don't refer to your dog by a designer dog name. Here's a good list of reasons not to.

  • aww I miss my baby's 1st birthday this year for a work trip...not that she knew! I would have taken her for a puppy cone at the ice cream shack in our neighborhood, except she's on a limited ingredient diet for allergies and dairy is not one of the ingredients she's allowed.

This link provides a bit more information that might be helpful: https://sites.google.com/site/petsboardfaqs/home/all-about-designer-dogs.  "Designer" dogs are mixed breeds (such as golden retriever/poodle mixes that some people call "goldendoodles").  Calling these dogs by a made-up name ("puggle," "cockapoo", etc.) may lead others to believe they are a real/recognized breed (which they are not), which in turn leads to people buying these dogs from breeders, who generally don't perform the necessary health testing, etc. and are primarily breeding for profit (rather than for the betterment of the breed).  HTH!
