I am just finishing up a reread of HP #1 which I love of course!  I am also finishing up Age of Miracles for my IRL book club which I like much more than I thought I would.  I just started Daughter of Smoke and Bone after seeing so many good things on here.  I'm not far enough into it yet to have much of an opinion yet though.

I'm Canadian so we celebrated our long weekend last weekend but DH and I are leaving for Vegas on Sunday.  A much needed week of no work, school or kids and I can't wait!

I literally just started And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It's # 33 for the year, so too soon to have an opinion.

We are headed to Philadelphia Saturday morning for our anniversary. We'll be gone until Tuesday evening.

I'm listening to Ashes of Midnight (Midnight Breed #6). I've liked the series for the most part so far, but I'm not loving to characters in this one.  At this point I'm only finishing it to see what the next ones are like.  #43.

  • I am struggling with the two I am reading right now:

In Paradise by Peter Matthiesen.  It is an audiobook version that I won from goodreads.  I have been trying to listen to it in my car but find that I zone out and forget to listen.  This reminds me why I don't do audio books.  It is unfortunate because I really like Peter Matthiesen as an author and the book is probablly really good.

    also

The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe.  I can't seem to read more than a chapter at a time in this one.  It just isn't catching my attention.

So today I am going to start Helter Skelter; The True Story of the Manson Murders  by Vincent Bugliosi.  I hope the blood and guts help snap me out of my reading funk.

These are books #59-61 for the year.

Sunday my family will be coming over for a cookout.  And Monday I plan to run at least 6 miles to prove to myself that I can do it.

I'm listening to The Line: Witching Savannah by JD Horn.  It's the first in a series and I bought it when it was on sale at Audible.  It's good so far.  It's about a non-witch in a family full of them.

Starting Drums of Autumn by DG. Listening to The Collector by NR.
Our long weekend was last weekend. We got stuff done around the house.
  • I'm working on Landline and really enjoying it.

DH and my Dad are going to start re-staining our kitchen cabinets this weekend, so I'll probably spend a lot of time laying in the hammock reading/staying out of the way.

  • I am reading Dust of Dreams, which is book nine in the Malazan series. I am about a fourth of the way in and I like it. It has started out as the most engaging one. I think it is around seventy for the year.

No real plans for the weekend for us. I am looking forward to the NE G2G next weekend!

I also started Code Name Verity, it is #68 for the year, I had started reading it last year and it didn't catch my interest, I'm not sure why, but I'm it another shot.

I'm listening to Son of Neptune, it is #69 for the year, I really hope to finish it today but i don't know.

I'm reading Love and Treasure by Ayelet Waldman and I really like it so far.

We don't really have any big plans.  I think we are going to go look at new furniture and we're going to a first birthday party.  Other than that, I'm just looking forward to having DH home for three days so I can get a break.

  • I'm re-reading Outlander. My brother's family gave me an Amazon gift card for my birthday, so I'll be using that for her new release. :)

I'm thinking about joining the book club at the library for the summer. I'm going to see what the next book is and when they meet.

I haven't been keeping track of how many books I've read this year.

  • I'm still reading The Wolf of Wall Street. I put it down for a while but I'm trying to push through. It's starting to get slightly better now that I'm beyond the halfway point.
I'm listening to Outlander and it's fantastic, of course.

I'm taking the kids to where my parents are camping for the day tomorrow, Sunday we are going to a car show, and Monday i hope to get some stuff done around the house.

  • I'm reading Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker which is the third book in the Ten Tiny Breaths series.  It's pretty good.  I am also about to start Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  They are #22 and #23 for the year.  I can't wait until school is done so I have more time to read!

My weekend plans include a baby shower tomorrow and going to dinner with some of my friends on Sunday to celebrate a birthday and say goodbye to one of the girls who is moving to Oregon next week.  I think that's probably about it.  The last few weekends have been crazy for us, so I'm looking forward to a low key, relaxing weekend.

I'm planning to finish two books today:

The Dinner (Koch) which I'm really enjoying, and Salt, Sugar, Fat (Moss) which I've learned a lot from.
    Both quality reads.

I have to choose what I'm going to read either before my trip next week or plan which one I'll read then!!!!

This weekend is more cleaning and hanging out with the kids & DH. Taking the girls to the nature center early tomorrow, per request from A to "see the snakes!" I am going to dine al fresco tonight with girlfriends and tomorrow DH & I are meeting our friends in Chicago for fondue. Then we're all just chillin'.

  • I'm still listening to Drums of Autumn.  I have about 8 hours remaining.  I'm reading the 4th book in the Parasol Protectorate series, which is fun.  I also have at home the new Nora Roberts and the final book in a ya series I've been dying to read.

Saturday we are going to visit our CSA farm and then go to some races.  Then I am going to read until I can't see straight!

I have less than 19 hours left on my Wise Man's Fear audiobook!. As much as I like it, I just want to be done and move on to something else. 42 hours is a haul for an audiobook.

I'm about 15% into The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe. I really like the author's style and the 1915 period setting, but I'm more in the mood for something all-consuming that I can barrel through and this is not it.
    image image
  • I'm 93% through Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts (In the Garden trilogy #1).
I like it a lot so far. It was moving pretty slowly for a little bit and I'm not loving it the way I have her other trilogies in the past. But I've been too busy to read at all the past few months so I'm enjoying finally getting to read something.

I've been listening to The Surgeon by Tess Gerritson (the first of the Rizzoli and Isles series) and it is so good.  Such a great mystery and well defined characters.  I hate getting out of the car!

I am reading Sugar Changed the World for work and it is fascinating.

I just started reading Track of the Cat by Nevada Barr (another first in a series).  An author I like, Karin Slaughter, gave this series 5 stars and raves about ti so I decided to check it out.  I'm only 3 chapters in so I don't have an opinion yet.

They will be #49,50 and 51 for the year.

  • I'm reading Golden by Jessi Kirby and listening to Shelter Mountain (Virgin River #2) by Robin Carr. I'm not too far into either of them, but I'm really enjoying both so far. They're #16 & 17 for the year.
