Reading Lottery: The Eyre Affair

Due to several book releases this month I just hadn't been able to get around to finishing this particular book. I think the overall plot is really interesting and I love that it uses literature as the pop-culture basis. The main character (Thursday Next) is likeable and intelligent which made me want to root for her and she wasn't whiny in regards to her love life which was great. The downside is that I'm not a huge classic novel fan and the book dealt with many of the classics so I didn't get as hooked as I would have liked. Overall it was a decent read but due to the other books I had been waiting for I felt like it got lost in my thoughts. I'm not sure I'll continue with the series but it was great to get me out of my comfort zone! I loved participating in the Reading Lottery and think the idea was fantastic so I'm really hoping we do this again and maybe add in the genre idea.

I am glad you found it interesting at least.  I debated choosing this book since it is really best if you have read the referenced books.

  • I had to be talking into reading this by my BFF.  I hated Jane Eyre, with a passion.  But I loved Thursday Next!  And while I love the series, I find it's an up-and-down series.  If you give the series a chance, definitely read at least Lost in a Good Book and The Well of Lost Plots.  The idea of BookWorld is a great treat for readers (in my opinion) and I love Thursday best when she's in BookWorld.  She's great fun no matter what, but I enjoy the adventures so much more in BookWorld.

Are there any of them that heavily include Pride and Prejudice? I happen to love that one, or Little Women :)
