We're thinking of taking a family vacation to the Caribbean in February/early March of 2015.  I've been looking at Punta Cana.  DH and I are hoping to stay around $3000-$3200 for flight & all-inclusive resort for 7 nights.  We're coming from Indianapolis.  Would you recommend Punta Cana?  I've seen some all-inclusive resorts (which is a must) for the price range I'm thinking of.  What do you recommend to do in Punta Cana?

Are there any other all-inclusive resorts on other Caribbean Islands where we could stay for $3200?  I've been looking, and it appears most other islands are more expensive than Dominican Republic.

We did Punta Cana for $3k at Secrets Royal Beach resort.  It was all inclusive and adults only.  

For the most part that is what you will pay for a decent resort in the Carribean.  Also look into Jamaica as they can be in that price range too.

For my sisters DW we went to Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana (2011)  I'm pretty sure it was $1300/pp all inclusive with flight.  That was coming from Canada.  

There were a lot of excursions available.  I only did one (a Catamaran to Saona Island, which I unfortunately would not recommend unless things have changed) but my BIL's siblings did everything from swimming with dolphins, to reef exploring (snorkeling, sharks, sting ray's etc.), para sailing, glass-bottom boat etc.  The food was also amazing.  I had the best meal of my entire life (honestly, I can still taste it) at this resort.  Market and towns close-by.  (Please note, excursions are usually extra $ as all these were)     

Has good reviews on Tripadvisor, you should check it out.

I don't know if you have already booked your trip--but we did Punta Cana a few years ago and enjoyed it.  We have also been to Jamaica recently--it was pretty cheap to go there and I liked it better.  Jamaica also had a lot more excursions and the water was calmer.  

 I agree with PP--take a look at tripadvisor.  GL!
