Augmentin

Anyone had to take this while pregnant? My dog bit me (not viciously. He is a 10yo pug who is 95% blind and 50% toothless. We were playing tug of war with his favorite toy like we do everyday and my finger got in the way of his fuzzy lamby attack) I needed three stiches (honestly impressed considering his severe lack of teeth, and his inability to eat crunchy food anymore!) and the Dr. said any dog bite is dirty, even your own up to date on shots dog so I had to go on augmentin. MW approved as well. I am just seeing if anyone else had to go on this and what their experience was?

I'm sorry, but I've got zero familiarity with that. If your MW said it was okay, I probably wouldn't worry, though.

I was bitten by our neighbor's dog at my dad's house when I was 10. I got 7 stitches and a jab for rabies, but that was it. I definitely didn't get put on anything else.

ETA: Went and looked it up. It's just amoxicillin. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Take it.  If your MW said it's fine, it's fine.  I had to take some pretty strong antibiotics (different kind) while pregnant and it was NBD.

  • Take it. It's fine. You're also in way worse a situation if you don't take it and risk infection. I've been on several antibiotics this time.

  • Might cause you a little diarrhea from the amoxicillin part, but that's it.  If your doctor prescribed it and knows you're pregnant, there is no issue.
